The Hills We Climb by Amanda Gorman

I love this poem because of the hope it gives me. 2020 was a horrible year, and Amanda Gorman was able to restore a lot of faith in a country that had suffered and had seen unthinkable violence over and over. The tone of this poem is impassioned. A line that emphasizes this tone is "We are striving to forge a union with purpose, to compose a country committed to all cultures, colors, characters and conditions of man."

I like this poem because this was from a book that me and my brothers would read all of the time. the tone makes it very dramatic, a set of words that helps this tone is, "My brain is shrunk." This shows how the child in this poem is being very dramatic to get their point across that they are not feeling well.

I love this poem because it kinda reminds you to remember yourself and just to take care of yourself. 2020 and 2021 were both difficult years for me and a lot of other people, during that time I lost a lot of motivation and interest in stuff and was overall not really doing much since I couldn't. when I listen to this song now it just reminds me to take of myself, it's very sad and calm, but towards the end, it's very happy and sweet.

I just found this poem, but I like it so much already because it is talking about what a good peaceful world would look like. It talks about all the things that he wishes the world could be, but it just isn't. The tone of this poem is hope because he keeps repeating the phrase "I dream a world..." which shows he is wishing for something better to come and he has hope that it might happen some day.

The poem really gives hope to people so that whatever they are going through they don't give up. Strength is the word that contributes to the tone because it really tells because that they can do this and to not give up because there will always be something good.

I like this poem so much because it shows the uncertainties of life, and that you aren't guaranteed anything. It also shows that there are decisions to be made on a regular basis, and you cannot control how big of a result doing one thing over another will be. The tone of the poem is confused, like he doesn't know what is going on around him. He says, "Or crust and sugar over," and repeats it with other scenarios like "fester like a sore" which shows he is unsure about what he needs to do.

This Poem is for me i guess because before we came back into actual school i wasn't doing my school work and i wasn't in a good head space and i wasn't treating the people that loved me that well bc i had gone through stuff in 2020 and then i was taking it out in anger in the wrong way.And for a while i kept going back to friends to get the help and attention i needed but after awhile it took me too long to figure out that only God can be the one that will always be there for me and comfort me and give me the attention and love that i need to heal. idk everybody's beliefs in this class but, Nobody can do things like how God can and if you don't have God...you don't got nobody.

However, the author writes about how it was surprisingly similar and felt the same as it did with minimal change. The tone of the poem is definitely hopeful, or just happy in general. I believe this because of phrases used such as "What I thought would be different was almost the same." This shows hope and gratitude because the person is acknowledging that despite their worries and previous expectations, it was not as different as they thought, and in fact it was nearly the same as it was.
