Endorsing Universal Design for Learning instructional strategies so all students have opportunities for learning through differentiated content, processes, and product.

For this assignment, this sentence stood out to me. I chose this sentence because, I believe endorsing Universal Design for Learning supports all students is how the state of California assist students’ at all levels. Validating UDL is important for the reason that it offers pathways to learning. For example, students have access to a visual representation, audio version, and written transcript.

“ “Provide all students with challenging and motivating coursework, along with the opportunity to learn in the most inclusive and equitable learning environments possible.”

I picked this quote because it shows the emphasis on words like, “all” and “equitable.” A lot of people think that equity and equality are synonymous, but in reality, it isn’t. UDL provides equitable opportunities to those students who really need it. Equity is the act of providing a big enough boost to make sure all the students are at similar or the same levels of learning. Equality is giving equal amounts of boosts to everyone without the guarantee of everyone ending up at the same or similar levels of everyone else.

Teachers can systematically address support by including time for flexible learning groups, and also encourage creative questioning. Setting clear goals is important as well. Also teachers should be following high-quality standards and research based instruction. When supporting students being inclusive is essential. Another option is incorporating open ended questions which would help with vocabulary development. As well as increasing more projects, and cooperative learning.

This quote stood out to me because MTSS means to help educators work together to have equitable access and opportunities for all students. This quote is stating that they will give support to all students and set high expectations. They want a design service that will benefit all students and will work to improve their support. Creating a service that best supports all students will help make a difference in students academic, behavioral, and social success.
