H&M and Zara are both brands that have terribly made clothing but they follow the same trends as Brandy Melville. They follow the phenomena "trends" that Sproles mentions. This follows how a fad is created and soon dies.

Retail companies can grow super quickly due to the sudden popularity of their item, this can cause like Sproles said "unintentional dictators". We can assume from the Brandy Melville article that the 'dictators' would also like to make money super fast...which means pump out the cheaply made item super fast!

The rest of Kaiser's quote says this, "anyone who has ever looked back at old pictures and cringed." (Kaiser, 2). What she meant in this context was that, who hasn't gone back in their photos and was like 'uh why would I ever wear that its so not cute'. She calls those people fashion victims, meaning they have fallen for the fad of whatever is trending in their aesthetic.

Sproles helps this by saying, hey we use old fashion trends today. Similarly to how my parents always say, girl I wore that when I was you're age and we thought it was ugly back then. It's just the roles are reversed, we like those trends because the 90's/ 80's style is huge right now/
