1.What does "information literacy" mean to you?

To me, information literacy means knowing how to find good, reliable information, understanding it, and using it in the right way. It’s about being able to decide if the information is true and helpful and using it to solve problems, share ideas, or make decisions. It also means knowing how to organize and present the information clearly so that others can understand and trust it.

2.How will you need information literacy skills in the specific industry in which you will work after graduation?

I have a strong interest in filming and photographing natural disasters, and if I get a job as a photographer for an organization like National Geographic, which is something I’m dreaming about, information literacy will be very important. I would need to research locations, study the science behind natural disasters, and understand the culture and history of the areas I document. Information literacy would also help me stay updated on weather patterns, environmental conditions, and potential risks, ensuring I’m well prepared. It’s also essential for finding accurate sources, sharing trustworthy information, and presenting my work in a way that tells powerful, meaningful stories about the world.

3.Give specific examples ( e.g. as a teacher, a chef, a business manager etc.) of the types of lifelong learning and research you will need to participate in as a successful employee in your specific field ( the program you are studying at Humber College)

As someone passionate about capturing the power and beauty of natural disasters through photography, lifelong learning, and research are key to building a successful career. For example, I will need to stay updated on advancements in equipment, such as high-resolution cameras, drones, or innovative lighting techniques, to ensure I can capture the most detailed and dynamic shots. I will also need to learn about the science behind disasters, like how hurricanes or earthquakes happen, so I can plan my shots safely and effectively. Researching the history and culture of the places I visit will help me understand the story I’m telling with my photos. Continuing to improve my editing skills and learning new ways to share my work will also be important for reaching a bigger audience.

In addition to growing up in an Arab country where indirect communication is common, I also see myself as a high-context communicator because I feel more comfortable avoiding direct refusals in certain situations. For example, if someone asks for my help and I am busy, I wouldn’t just say, “I can’t help.” Instead, I would explain that I have something important to do, so they don’t feel rejected. Another example is giving feedback. If a friend shows me their work and asks for my opinion, I wouldn’t say, “This is not good.” Instead, I would first mention the good parts and then suggest small changes. I believe this way of communicating helps avoid misunderstandings and keeps conversations respectful

Q1: In my opinion, all the values discussed in the video are important. However, I consider responsibility and trust to be the most crucial values in the people I work with. Responsible individuals complete their tasks diligently and without negligence. Additionally, I believe that trust is the foundation of success, as it fosters strong relationships and effective teamwork

Q2: Academic integrity should be practiced in the workplace and in our lives. For example, we must complete our work tasks in the best way. If we make a mistake or if we have problems at work, we must inform the manager and be honest with him so that he can help us overcome these problems.

In my opinion, apologizing to customers is an effective way to show responsibility and concern. It reassures them that their issues are acknowledged and that solutions will be provided. A sincere apology can also help ease frustration and improve customer satisfaction. By addressing concerns properly, businesses can build trust and maintain positive relationships with their customers.
