Washington described Valley forge as a "Deary kind of place and uncomfortably provided."

His army was ill-prepared with resources. The clothes and food were barely enough to get through.

Due to diseases and lack of resources, over 2,000 soldiers had already died by the time George was pleading with the continental congress for help.

Many of the soldiers families were at valley forge as well, attempting to help build places to stay in, but the extremely unsanitary conditions caused mass death in the army.

There were over 3,000 troops that ended up being unfit for service becuase of the lack of resources and unsanitary conditions.
