Guaraní Jopará is a mixture of Guaraní and Spanish spoken by most Paraguayans. It uses many Spanish loan words, especially for concepts that didn't exist at the time of colonization. For example, "lavarrópa" in Jopará is borrowed from "lavarropas" (washing machine) in Spanish. Loan words are used for concepts that existed pre-colonization too, like "família", "tiémpo", etc. The written accent is placed in the middle of the word because Guaraní naturally accents its words in the last syllable, whereas Spanish does so in the penultimate syllable. Sometimes, the meaning of loan words changes!
