         <description><![CDATA[<p>Using planning to explicitly plan the types of questions that need to be asked. </p><p>Have teachers practice coming up with their own answers to help them identify misconceptions that students may have. This will help teachers be able to model and guide students to give the types of responses that we are looking for with evidence and support. </p><p>Providing sentence stems, iReady discourse cards, and scaffolded questioning to support student learning. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Giving opportunities for students to present more extended responses, both in speaking and in writing, to open ended questions. Using planning time to select open ended questions from the curriculum and the benchmark cards as well as helping teachers to allot the appropriate amount of time for them to complete these tasks. Structuring speaking tasks through routines such as Think-Pair-Shares can also be helpful toward this recommendation.</p>]]></description>
