“Nothing is ever static. We are constantly changing ourselves and our contexts. This kind of transformation of existing issues and questions into new ones can help your ideas and practices as ongoing cycles of action and reflection.” 242 Characteristics of a Good Research Question

Reminds me of a comment I left on a different quote from another reading a few weeks ago. This is a good reminder of how I am not working towards one final answer, one perfect method of teaching (in teaching or in my action research). A solid teaching practice is a lifetime of inquiry and the constant seeking of ways to improve

I've engaged with every reading for the class. I've done every assignment except for one week of reading preparation (I think week 6 or 7?). I did the readings for that week, I just forgot to write up my text notes on them and didn't think it would be the best use of my time after the fact. I've managed to keep up pretty decent time management for this class and I'm happy I'm still on top of things.

I've stayed extra hours at school site to interview students for the classroom part of our community asset map. We still have a lot of students to interview, and the student interview data likely won't appear on the version we turn in Sunday, but we will still use it for ourselves beyond that assignment's due date.

I took pictures of the UC Berkeley fifth grade classroom and organized a group Google Drive to collect all of our images. I also took photos at Acta Non Verba and around Acorn Woodlands' campus. I took a ton of pictures at the 81st avenue library, of the library itself and of all the different resources available within it (community resource binder, various pamphlets, etc). I took notes while we spoke to the librarian at the 81st avenue library and with the folks at Acta Non Verba. I put together the Google Map of nearby resources to Acorn. I helped organize the slides for the UC Berkeley classroom and Acta Non Verba. I had the idea to map our fifth grade students' skills as a part of the classroom level of the map and helped come up with some of the interview questions. I've also helped with the student interview process.

During our presentation, I presented the slides on UC Berkeley's classroom and Acorn Woodland's community values.

Overall, I think I did a good job on this project and that I pulled my weight within the group. I think I could've stepped up a bit more during some of the final stages, when we were situating the actual map on Google Slides, but besides that, I think I worked to the best of ability.

I really enjoyed this assignment, I thought it was really useful and relevant. This is a practice that I want to continue in whichever schools I end up working in in the future.

I wish we would have had more time between peer review and final product. Seeing my classmates' work made me want to edit our map ~a lot~. I think our map could be a more accessible and flexible format (like a padlet) and could include more demographic information, a history section, and embedded links to resources. I think if we had an extra week between peer review and final submission, our map could have been taken up another level.

During the first few weeks, I added comments to quotes on my text notes with short reflections. I didn't really do that at all during weeks 5-8. I think I should get back into that practice as much as time allows, as it would provide me a deeper level of engagement with the text.
