Patriotism, to me, is a deep and sincere love for one’s country. It is not just about waving flags or singing the national anthem, but about feeling a connection to the land, its people, and the shared history and future of the nation. True patriotism comes from the heart—it is a sense of belonging and responsibility towards the progress and well-being of the country. It means being proud of one’s culture and heritage, but also being aware of the country’s flaws and working towards making it better.

Patriotism is not blind support; it is thoughtful love. It is about standing by the values on which the country was built—like justice, equality, and freedom—and making sure those values are upheld in daily life. A real patriot doesn’t only praise their country but also questions it when needed, and contributes to its growth through actions, not just words.

There are many everyday ways to show love and respect for one’s country. The most basic is by being a responsible citizen—obeying laws, paying taxes, and respecting public property. But it goes deeper. It’s about being honest, helping others, and standing up for what is right, even if it is difficult. When we keep our environment clean, treat others with respect, and celebrate the country’s culture and diversity, we are showing patriotism in action.

Another way is through education and hard work. When we study with dedication, work sincerely, and try to become better human beings, we are preparing ourselves to contribute positively to the country. If every citizen performs their duties with honesty and kindness, the entire nation benefits.

However, I believe that being patriotic means not just to respect our flag, our country and our anthem, but it also means to act as good citizens of our country, put in the efforts to help our country grow. It means to be responsible, respect the Constitution of the country, and fulfil our duty sincerely. It means to actively work to bring a positive change in our country, one step at a time, rather than merely criticizing and showing hatred towards our country from the comfort of our homes. The ways to show love and respect for the country are stated in the Constitution itself, as the fundamental duties of citizens. They are as follows:-

1.Abide by the Indian Constitution and respect its ideals and institutions, the National Flag and the National Anthem.

2.Cherish and follow the noble ideals that inspired the national struggle for freedom.

3.Uphold and protect the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India.

4.Defend the country and render national service when called upon to do so.

5.Promote harmony and the spirit of common brotherhood amongst all the people of India transcending religious, linguistic and regional or sectional diversities and to renounce practices derogatory to the dignity of women.

6.Value and preserve the rich heritage of the country’s composite culture.

7.Protect and improve the natural environment including forests, lakes, rivers and wildlife and to have compassion for living creatures.

8. Develop scientific temper, humanism and the spirit of inquiry and reform.

9.Safeguard public property and to abjure violence.

10.Strive towards excellence in all spheres of individual and collective activity so that the nation constantly rises to higher levels of endeavour and achievement.

Some simple ways, which I can follow everyday, to show my ever-lasting love and respect for my country are showing love for my country by being kind, honest, and helping others every day, taking care of the land, following the rules, and respecting the flag and what it stands for. It probably goes without saying, but we should all always be proud of our roots, and do our part to make it better for everyone. And we should always celebrate all festivals on a very large scale and have a lot of fun, but we should never forget the rich cultural history and heritage, which is the reason why we celebrate the festivals.

To me it is a feeling of love towards my country and pride for its protectors.

Patriotism has its own way of showing and that can be through anything and everything, personally, i feel, respecting the national symbols and actively trying to do what you can is a way of showing love and respect that we carry for our nation.

I feel that showing basic respect to OUR LAND, PEOPLE, KNOWLEDGE & so on is more than enough to be patriotic. Every drop counts, whenever you choose the environment over convenience, stand up for what is right, even a simple smile to your fellow Bharatiya Nagrik, THAT is what makes this country become a better, more interesting place & THAT is when you are truly PATRIOTIC.

As children we should respect our national anthem , we should keep our surroundings clean, follow rules, learn our culture,We also should promote unity and help any one in need.

But I also think real patriotism means being mature enough to acknowledge what needs to change. It’s not about blindly accepting everything, but about caring enough to question what’s wrong and wanting better, not just for ourselves, but for everyone around us. Loving your country isn’t about shouting it out loud… it’s about quietly doing your part with honesty and responsibility.

This is why I do agree that young students must become more aware of the contributions of the armed forces, especially in today's generation. Many youths consider patriotism and showing respect to out armed forces as insignificant, and even poke fun at others, for the pride that we take in them and their sacrifices. Due to this reason, I believe that people must be much more educated and enlightened about the various ways in which the military protects the country and fends off external attackers and invaders. They must know how the soldiers at the border ensure stability in the country, and learn about the potential unrest and tensions that can be caused in the country in the absence of a strong system of defence forces. This can be done by:-

1. Encouraging case study-based activities in the school and practicals to give the students a more realistic idea about the importance of our army.

2. Organizing interactions between army officers and students to familiarize students even more with the army, or conducting educational visits to military camps and stations in the nearby vicinity, to educate students about the armed forces.

3. Commemorating important days related to the military, to instil the values of respect and pride towards the military forces in students.

These are just few of the many ways to help students gain more awareness about our army's significance.

To spread awareness, soldiers can visit schools and share their stories, schools can celebrate special days to honor them as well as experiential learning field trips to museums or places with national importance.

To me patriotism is respecting the soldiers fighting on the borders of our country. Not only this, but to me patriotism is also helping and serving the people of our country in many ways. We can show love and respect to our country every day by keeping the city clean, respecting our national anthem, following rules, etc.

Yes, I believe school students should be more aware of our armed forces’ contribution. Schools can help promote this by showing videos, giving us information about how the soldiers train and fight at our borders and their living conditions at the borders and giving us activities based on this topic.

Schools can promote this by:

• Inviting soldiers and veterans to share their experiences.

• Celebrating days like Armed Forces Flag Day or Kargil Vijay Diwas.

• Organizing trips to military museums or memorials.

• Including war heroes and defense stories in lessons.

• Holding patriotic competitions and assemblies.

These efforts help students understand the value of sacrifice and service to the nation.

Schools can spread awareness in fun and meaningful ways; like screening documentaries in class, organizing annual themed events like debates, art exhibitions, or collecting letters of appreciation.

When I see brave and selfless people, who are always ready to sacrifice as much as they can for the greater good, I feel very thankful towards such individuals, who have restored millions' faith in humanity. Seeing the harsh sacrifices of people makes me grateful for having a decent life, and having security and stability.

Even in context of our armed forces, I have immense respect and honour for them and their valour. They are the reason why we are able to live comfortably, without any major unrest or tension. They put their lives at risk, fighting threats with all their might, every single day, while the country sleeps peacefully and remains safe. The level of commitment shown by them makes me appreciate the for always being there to safeguard us.

Our elders are also great role models for us. They always take stress and tension just to see the smile on our faces, and face several difficulties and worries, to see us succeed and to ensure that we are in a better place.

One example I would like to cite is that of my parents. They want me to secure a better future for myself. For this, they spend a huge amount of money on my growth and development, hoping to see me in a successful position when I grow up. They make me join various classes and spend on my education for the same purpose.

Hence, overall, I am extremely grateful to the people who go through struggles to make our lives easier, and am forever indebted to them for their selflessness.

To me, patriotism means truly caring for my country and wanting to make it better. Yes, I believe school students should definitely know more about what our armed forces do for us. They protect our country, face danger, and stay away from their families so that we can live safely. To spread this awareness, schools can do simple things like showing short videos or stories about soldiers in class, putting up posters or facts on bulletin boards, or holding short quizzes and drawing competitions about the army, navy, and air force. Teachers can also tell inspiring real-life stories of soldiers during class. Even just talking about them during morning assembly or celebrating days like Army Day can help us understand and respect their hard work and sacrifices.

For example, during a school leadership camp, I had to speak in front of a large audience despite having severe stage fright. I was terrified of messing up, but I knew that if I didn’t step up, our team’s message wouldn’t be heard. Summoning courage, I delivered the speech. It wasn’t perfect, but it connected with people—and that taught me that courage isn’t about being fearless, but acting despite fear.

One if the simplest ways of to show patriotism in everyday life is following the Fundamental Duties given by our constitution.

Question 3- I often try to defend our constitution when its been defamed bcz India, although being an Third World Country, has one of the best, and just constitution. The good works of the government is often overshadowed by the evil.

The values of courage and sacrifice inspire me in many ways. When ever I think that I am not living a luxurious life, I remember the soldiers on the border, I think about them, their families and how they safeguard us while risking their own lives.

It is important to remember the sacrifices made by the soldiers during the historic Kargil War as they were fighting for us. We wanted to live peacefully, so the soldiers fought for us. They lost their lives due to us. We should honor them and their sacrifices, because after all, they fought for us.

To spread awareness I believe schools should invite warriors who have actively participated in war zones, those who have or have had high rankings in the military such as Major General, Lieutenant General, etc. Books written by soldiers such as Colonel Ajay Raina should be made mandatory to read to understand the lives of such brave men and women. Furthermore schools should organize special fund drives for soldiers suffering from PTSD, since it is difficult for them to live a normal life.

There are multiple martyrs who have proudly laid their lives for the safety our country. All of these sacrifices must be recognized and acknowledged. Multiple PVC, MVC and VC recipients have been a part of the Kargil War. Their sacrifices are the reason we are living securely every day. Captain Vikram Batra (KIA), Major Manoj Pandey (KIA), Captain Anuj Nayyar (KIA)are some of the bravehearts who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country. Many others like Major General Rajiv Narayanan, Lieutenant General PR Shankar have been instrumental in the war with artillery support. We must honour and respect these heros and always keep their sacrifices in mind. They are the reason for a secure India.

Courage and sacrifice inspires me to work hard every day and make the most of every moment. During the Kargil War our brave soldiers showed immense courage in the face of extreme adverse conditions. The war was fought at a high altitude on steep snow covered mountains, in very difficult weather conditions. Many also laid down their lives during this conflict. Hence, it is important to remember their bravery and exceptional courage.
