After completing high school, I studied fashion design in Benin before marrying and migrating to Australia in the late 1990s. As a new migrant, I began my Australian journey by learning English at TAFE, dedicating 2.5 years to completing foundational language studies. With determination and persistence, I progressed into a Tertiary Preparation Program, which opened the door to further education.

I went on to complete a Dual Diploma in Welfare and Community Development, followed by a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Mental Health. These qualifications formed the foundation of a meaningful and impactful career.

For the next 19 years, I worked across youth work, disability, and mental health, supporting individuals and families with professionalism, cultural humility, and compassion. During this time, I observed significant gaps in service provision for CALD communities, particularly African‑heritage families who often struggled to access culturally safe and emotionally empowering support.

Motivated by this unmet need, I made the decision to step away from mainstream employment and establish my own private practice. I am now a Registered NDIS Provider, delivering culturally responsive, emotionally safe, and empowering services to NDIS participants and private clients. My practice is grounded in lived experience, advanced psychosocial expertise, and a deep commitment to supporting people who may have fallen in the gaps for various reasons.

As part of my NDIS audit, it was recommended that I undertake business studies to strengthen my understanding of business operations and enhance the sustainability of my practice — a step I embraced wholeheartedly as part of my ongoing professional growth.
