Predormital Sleep Paralysis

I just got back home from a long drive to the doctor. My sleep paralysis is acting up again. It's been more frequent these days. I talked to my doctor about it and she said that it's totally normal when under a large amount of stress. But it feels like this is the cause of my stress. When you have sleep paralysis you never know when its gonna happen. Sometimes you take a nap and you wake up and you feel like something is sitting on your chest. There are other times it could feel like someone is watching you and sometimes you can see them standing over you. When that happens you're not supposed to look because if you do... they come closer. Sometimes they have faces and sometimes they don't. Sometimes they are just figures. Well, anyways I decided that I should just go to bed. She said going to bed earlier and setting a strict sleeping schedule will help. I turned out the light and closed the door. I got in bed and went over what to do if it happens again. Focus on moving one part of your body and you will wake up.

After about 15 minutes of absolute anxiety of going to sleep I finally tired myself out drifted off to sleep. I felt okay. I had a good feeling at first. Then it happened. I always know when it's gonna happen. You start to feel a buzz or vibration. I tried to stop myself from opening my eyes but with sleep paralysis you always have this feeling of immense fear as if the world is ending. My eyes shot open and saw a figure standing at the end of my bed. I didn't look directly at it out of fear of it coming closer. The feeling of pure fear pulsing through my whole body I could feel my pulsing heart beating so hard. I couldn't close my eyes. My breath is practically non-existent because of the anxiety. I tried to focus on moving my feet but I just couldn't. Tears of frustration fell down my cheeks. Out of a moment of weakness I looked straight at the figure. In a split second they were directly in front of me. I could feel a cold hand stroke my face. I could feel the hand that had a cold ring on the middle finger. The minute the cold fingers touched my skin I woke up.

I shot straight up in my bed and turned on the light. The figure that was once there was gone. I could still feel the cold sensation from the hand that had touched me seconds ago. As soon as I touched my touched my cheek I had chills run down my back despite the cold sweat that was accumulating on the back of my neck. In a split second decision I called my doctor. Groggy, she answered the phone and asked me what was wrong and I told her everything the that happened. She told me that everything will be fine and go back to sleep. I thought to myself that she was right and went to turn out the light. When I looked at the night stand I saw a ring that I had never seen before. I picked it up and chills ran down my back. In that moment I realized that whatever appeared during my episode of sleep paralysis left a gift.
