Using the dna and its cells scientist believe that they can bring these animals back to life but in doing so they must consider the benefits and risks as well as consider if the benefits outweigh the risk.  There is so much that we do not know about these animals that are vital to their survival and the survival of ecosystems today if we were to add them into that environment. The primary motivation for de-extinction is to as said in the article “restore free ranging population”. This means that the scientist need to decide where they would release these animals once resurrected. Jorgensen argues that de extinction translocation is an issue and therefore any candidate species must consider the risks of reintroduction. Must have an appropriate release site where animals are expected to disperse and settle. This is critical because unsuitable release site habitats causes translocation failure and releases with low chance of success which could be seen as cruel.  The fact that the longer the animal has been extinct the less likely there will be good information on the habitat that the animal needs to live in to survive. This causes a greater uncertainty about their ecological role and the impact a changed environment might have on this animal and those around it.
