As the wonderful winds of a perfect spring day
Run past you, they say
“Hello! Hello, how do you do?”
But they leave before you have a chance to respond
Looking down to see rabbits hopping and ants marching
You sit on an old tree stump to draw nature for a while
Peering upward to see the beautiful way the branches block the noon sun
Hearing the mockingbirds and blue jays sing
Noticing a robin and her young come back after a long day of flight training to rest
While you’re just getting up to continue your walk
But nothing could compare to the beauty you see next
In front of you before the path takes a turn in direction
You marvel how the excellent rays of sunshine sneak past the trees
Onto the ground and lighting up the scattered leaves
You imagine there’s other lovely things to find
But you have to walk back
For right now it’s about to be dinner time
