I think that Zumba or dance videos are a great tool for brain breaks in the classroom! I've seen them used before, and the kids love them!

I observed at a school this past semester and my teacher would have the kids dance while watching zumba videos. It was really fun for the kids and also integrated movement!

In my opinion there is no such thing as a brain break because you always learning something whether good or bad. But a good idea for children to do would be for you to give them "free time" by allowing them to either draw something educational to hang in the class or play a game on the computer that's educational but they don't know it because the game is fun. They key is to "let" them do something by making them think that it's their idea to do it.

I just love the idea of taking whatever they are learning and integrating it into the brain break. So for example if they are learning social studies, you can do a continent song. Something that they can dance or play air instruments would be fun.
