It was first introduced when Mathilde wanted a necklace to go to the party. 
The symbol was developed when she found out she had lost it and thought it was real. She was very distraught as she thought the jewelry had a high price tag to it. Her and her husband spent countless hours searching for it, only to conclude that it was nowhere to be found. Mathilde had to work torturous labor for 10 years to raise money for a replacement. The symbol was concluded when Mathilde delivers Forestier the new necklace. However, Mme.
