Also moving pictures came out and people would go and watch a movie for entertainment. All of these helped shape  what Americans did in their free time. Edgar Hoover as his assistant and them two also with their special agents hunted down suspected communists and socialists. They broke many basic American rights and deported many communists, and socialist without a fair trial. Route 66 opened up people wanting to travel from Chicago to California. It also allowed for people to be able to leave their house and go places to shopping and entertainment. This had a effect on the railroad industry because now people had their own form of transportation and did not have to relay on trains to travel far. Also with the Automobile the airplane started getting more popular because they could hold cargo and could have passengers. It helped make companies ship things easier and faster. It also was easier than the railroad. Another economic advance that happened was the installment plan where people could but down money and pay over time for goods it fueled a prosperity because everybody could buy anything with how they could pay overtime they could afford more things like the new electrical appliances. Also during Hardings time in office he had to figure out what to do about Gmrany so dawes plan was created which tried to solve the problems that Germany would pay off their reparations owed to the allies for WW1. During Hardings time as president his friends ruined it for him because there was corruption in his cabinet.
