As I told you in class, you are asked to go to this link http://projectbritain.com/curious/calendar.htm and pick one British tradition you find interesting. Then, you have to read about it and look up more information about it so you can upload a Padlet here talking about it and sharing what you have learned with your classmates.
You have to mention what it consists of, its history, where it is celebrated and when. You also have to say why you have chosen it. Upload a picture or a video too. When all of you have uploaded your texts, you will be able to read the rest and vote which ones you've liked best or you've found more interesting.

Pearly King Harvest Festival (Ada Gómez)

This is a Cockney tradition which started in the 19th century in London when a young boy covered a suit with pearly buttons to attract attention and to raise money for the poor at charity events and fairs. The rest of the people where so impressed that they decided to get their own Pearly King or Queen. This tradition still continues to this day each year at the annual Pearly Kings and Queens Harvest Festival. This tradition takes place during the first Sunday of October.
I have chosen this tradition because it is very interesting and I like the way in which the people decorate their clothes with pearls.
