Without a familiar setting or a familiarity to the setting. A book may become confusing or unrealistic, and while some authors pull off a completely different world flawlessly. Both aliens, and humans have the same opinion of each other there not our kind. Because there’s separate sides placed, a human on a  L’eihr’s side would be absolutely outrageous but of course that’s what the plot is. There is consequence for  Cara and her family for supporting the Alliance between human L’eihr’s.  ‘“By association” Cara studied both of them with shock “You won’t want to be seen with me?” This is shown throughout the story as Cara's friends and community exclude, and shun them.
