Is there still a trend for cell phone novels - keitai shosetsu?

Do you think this may also be an issue related to the curriculum, and opportunities to share reader response among students and teachers in class - to a range of quality whole books (not extracts)? Is there a need for more space in the curriculum for reading, and time for teachers to read aloud to children?

It's perhaps surprising that there seem to be many significant exports of Japanese literature (particularly unique forms e.g. Manga, and cat novels), yet engagement with reading as a population is decreasing. How popular are these forms among Japanese readers, and are these valued by society / the curriculum as genuine reading experiences?
