What is the mission of an ID? Follow up and share your favorite readings and resources by Laura Swartley

I've taken the inputs to Krissy's questions and bolded some of the best descriptors. What if we get started on ideation on ID MISSION by having everyone read others' replies, and add comments and resources here? I have started by adding a LINK to Brian's first input.

Faculty Support for Online Learning

I found the survey results in this article interesting for many reasons, not the least of which was faculty's perception of whether the quality of online instruction equals, exceeds, or falls short of face-to-face instruction. The section "How Professors Build and Teach Their Online Courses" also found that many respondents did not work with IDs to design their courses, which is distressing, but I was encouraged by the findings in the "Outside Vendors" section: "Majorities of faculty members and of digital learning leaders oppose the use of external companies to provide a range of functions, including instructional design, offering student support, developing educational content or training the faculty."
- Christine
