1. Page 100: "He'd imagined that reinventing himself would involve simply leaving behind the old Elliot and becoming a new one. But the reality had turned out to be far more complicated than that. To start with, it wasn't a question of a single "old Elliot." There were at least two: the Elliot he'd been before his dad had been attacked, and the Elliot he'd become afterward. Nor was there one "new Elliot ." Every relationship he had to manage-- with the Guardians, with Ben, with home--required him to wear a different person." I feel like this passage is important because it is talking about Elliot changing himself and inventing a "new" one. The entire story is about him changing and the book is called, "Inventing Elliot."

2. Page 104: "'Rule the crowd, Elliot. That's what you must learn to do. Watch it. Understand it. Feed it. But always make sure it's you in control. Don't just give people what they want. Make them wait for it. Make them practically beg for it. Make them grateful to you for giving it to them. Never let them take you for granted. Rule the crowd, Elliot. Never let it rule you. . ."' I feel that this passage is important because the is the first time that Richard is telling Elliot how to do something and he wants him to do it that way.

Louise- unpredictable: I think Louise is unpredictable because you never know what she will say next or what mood she will be in. On page 119 and 120, "her dramatic and unpredictable mood swings from animated, upbeat opinions, on everything and everyone, through mocking anger, to that wonderful throaty giggle, often all in the space of five minutes." I think this makes her unpredictable because she can change from giggling to anger all in a very short amount of time.

Elliot- deceptive: I think Elliot is deceptive because he lies to the principal when he says he hasn't seen anything or doesn't know anything about a "gang." On page 110, "Elliot had been mentally rehearsing his answer. He looked into the principal's eyes and spoke with conviction and with the slightest movement of his head from side to side. 'No.' He let his gaze drop slightly. 'I've never come across anything. Nothing at all like that.'" This shows that he is deceptive because he knows about the guardians and that they bully the weaker kids.

Elliot's mom- caring: I think Elliot's mom is caring because she asks Elliot if everything is alright. On page 111, "'Is everything okay? You look... I don't know.'" and on page 112, "'Look, if there's something bothering you and it's something you don't feel you cant talk about-- you shouldn't feel like you can't ask me. Promise me that, will you?'" this shows that she is caring because she is concerned about him and says that he can always talk to her if he needs to.
