Solidarity is one theme of CST that is part of living out this beatitude because we are all one body in Christ. No matter our differences, we are one human family. We are called to show love and compassion to all despite our differences. We must not persecute others or discriminate against them. God rewards those who stay true to their faith and stay true to God despite the ridicule and persecution they encounter. Their reward is eternal happiness in Heaven.

The CST of rights and responsibilities plays a part in living out this beatitude because as children of God, it is our duty to treat others with the same respect as God did. We are called to protect the rights of humans and be peacemakers. We are called to make peace not war. It is our right to stand up for what we believe in and not let others ridicule us or turn away from Christ. If we stay true to God in face of all obstacles, then we will be rewarded in Heaven

caring for God's creation is an important theme of the CST that relates to our beatitude. caring for God's creations include showing respect for all other human beings. This means we should not discriminate against anyone for what they believe. We are called to love all of God's creations. Persecuting others violates this and it is important to show love and care to these people. Those who show care, as well as those persecuted, will be rewarded in heaven with God.

"Since men are social by nature, they must live together and consult each other's interests. That men should recognize and perform their respective rights and duties is imperative to a well ordered society. But the result will be that each individual will make his whole-hearted contribution to the creation of a civic order in which rights and duties are ever more diligently and more effectively observed."

It is our duty to work towards valuing and observing the rights each one of us have. We seek righteousness by making sure everyone has equal opportunities. However, by doing so, we sometimes face opposition and through this we work towards the Kingdom of God by working with solidarity in all that we do.

Human Dignity and the Beatitudes by Jill Rauh

"remain faithful to the will of God despite the consequent difficulties"

Doing the right thing is easier said than done. As stated in the Beatitude, we do the right thing for the sake of righteousness. We know what's fair and we know how we can help move towards justice for all. This collides with the popular attitude of today's society of "every man for himself." For example, a person may find themselves being teased for hanging out with the kid who has a tough time socializing. In the end, we do the right thing because that is what Jesus calls us to do and we see that through his actions. Just like Jesus, the Kingdom of God awaits us if we truly live according to his words and actions.

"It is up to the Christian communities to analyze with objectivity the situation which is proper to their own country, to shed on it the light of the Gospel's unalterable words and to draw principles of reflection, norms of judgment and directives for action from the social teaching of the Church."

Ultimately, the Beatitudes come alive through our actions. We must undertake the tough challenge of living each Beatitude in our life. Specifically, this Beatitude shows us our suffering for doing the right thing does not go unnoticed. By dedicating ourselves to the common good, we grow closer to the Kingdom of God through making it come alive. We must take time to analyze and judge our surrounding situation to see how we can work towards the common good.

This is particularly true in the case of those peoples who are trying to escape the ravages of hunger, poverty, endemic disease and ignorance; of those who are seeking a larger share in the benefits of civilization and a more active improvement of their human qualities; of those who are consciously striving for fuller growth."

Those who give themselves to the betterment of the common good truly strive to fulfill the human potential.
