    Doing the right thing is easier said than done. As stated in the Beatitude, we do the right thing for the sake of righteousness. We know what's fair and we know how we can help move towards justice for all. This collides with the popular attitude of today's society of "every man for himself." For example, a person may find themselves being teased for hanging out with the kid who has a tough time socializing. In the end, we do the right thing because that is what Jesus calls us to do and we see that through his actions. Just like Jesus, the Kingdom of God awaits us if we truly live according to his words and actions.

    Ultimately, the Beatitudes come alive through our actions. We must undertake the tough challenge of living each Beatitude in our life. Specifically, this Beatitude shows us our suffering for doing the right thing does not go unnoticed. By dedicating ourselves to the common good, we grow closer to the Kingdom of God through making it come alive. We must take time to analyze and judge our surrounding situation to see how we can work towards the common good.
