         <title>pH Scale</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A pH scale determines how acidic or how basic a substance can be measured. The scale ranges from 0-14 and is split in half. 0-7 is the acid side, while 7-14 is the base side. In the middle, is where either the acid or base is neutral. Then, when getting to either end of the scale that's where either a substance is rather highly acidic or basic.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Phosphoric acid is an important acid that is used in many ways such as  drinks and food or to remove rust from iron or steel. For example, drinks contains phosphoric acid to make the drink have a sour or tangy taste. Also, when something rusts like iron and you want to remove the rust, phosphoric acid will help get the rust off. The phosphoric acid can be applied in a liquid or as a compound of a product called naval jelly. The phosphoric acid in both liquid or jelly will convert iron (III<strong>) </strong>oxide to iron (III) phosphate which removes the rust.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Neutralization is a type of chemical reaction where a strong base and a strong acid reacts with each other to create water and salt. Neutralization is when something is either really acidic and a base is needed to neutralize it or vice versa. For example, eating spicy food contains acid and can effect your stomach. To fix the problem, you need to neutralize your stomach and you can do that by taking a antacid which is alkaline/basic. This will help neutralize your stomach and feel better.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Acid Rain</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Acid rain has a pH level of less than 5.6, while regular rain usually has a pH level of 5.6. The reason acid rain forms is when sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxide is in the atmosphere. The reason sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxide is present is due to the electricity production in coal-fired power plants. The mass production of iron and steel or the production of fertilizer in factories can contribute to the development of acid rain. Furthermore, when acid rain falls from the sky, it can make a huge effect wherever the rain lands. Acid rain can corrode stone surfaces of statues, buildings, and roads. After, the rain falls on the ground that can change the pH level of soil which can make trees and plants die. Also, the rain will fall into lakes, streams and other bodies of water. The rain will make the water more acidic and make the living  organisms in the water die.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
