It's from Egypt and it's about two of the gods they worship, the god of sun, Ra, and the god of darkness and chaos, Apep (Whose a Snake). Apep and Ra are worst enemies and fight all the time. A theory they have is that when Apep swallows Ra, the sun blacks out. When Ra goes to the underworld the sun is blocked out and that's how they get an eclipse.

The god of the sun is called Ra and he travels around the world giving sunlight everyday, in the myth it says that the god of chaos (Apep) chases after Ra and he sometimes misses but when he does manage to catch him, he swallows Ra and the sun is gone and that's how a eclipse is made.

My myth is from ancient China, and it is about a flying dragon living in the sky that eats stars and clouds. When the dragon gets hungry, he will always try to eat the sun, but the sun is too quick for the dragon to catch. But when the dragon is hungry, he can move fast enough to eat the sun in just one bite. People will always make a loud noise to scare off the dragon, and when the dragon does eat the sun, the people will also set off firecrackers, even firing cannons to scare the dragon, so that he will cough out the sun and return it to the sky again.

To keep it from eating the sun people banged on pots, pans, drums. They even started firecrackers, fireworks, even firing cannons. It would eventually make enough noise to scare away the dragon.
