Mrs. Mottern is reading... Opposite of Always by Justin A. Reynolds

20. Jack, the protagonist, would want to invent a cure for sickle cell anemia that would not cost a fortune. Jack's girlfriend has sickle cell anemia and will die if she is not treated (in fact she does does and Jack time travels to figure out how to save her).
29. An example of auditory imagery in the text is, "I hear the hiss of oxygen running into her nose" (Reynolds 130). An example of olfactory imagery is, "I smell the bitterness of alcohol swabs" (Reynolds 130).
3. Something that my protagonist struggles with is girls. The girl he thought he was in love with, Jillian, is dating his best friend. Although he has met Kate, a girl who he really likes, Jillian is still a big part of his life and he still holds a bit of a flame for her too.
2. The first sentence of the story is what hooked me when it said that "Kate [died] for the third time." I am very curious how someone could die multiple times and am intrigued about the idea that there was a "box meant to save her life." Clearly, the story is beginning right smack in the middle of the action and I am drawn in to this situation with Kate and the narrator.
1. Based on the title, Opposite of Always, I predict that the book will be a tumultuous love story that does not end in "forever" (so probably a more literal title) and that their relationship is riddled with complications and on-again-off-again breakups.

9: If I could punch any character in my book, I would do so to the main characters grandpa. We never learn his real name but we do learn that he is not a good person. All that he does in the book is yell at people, smoke marijuana on the porch and at one point even stole his wife’s painkillers so that he could take them.

5: If I could eat a meal with anyone from my story, I would eat a meal with the main character. This is because he isn’t picky and will eat whatever is given to him, including watered down milk. I would take him to “El Super Burrito III” because it is my favorite restaurant and I would like to share the experience.

20: The main character in my book would love to invent some sort of cure for addiction. This is because he lost his mother to addiction at a very young age and is constantly looking for her everywhere he goes. He is forced to live with his grandparents because of this, even though he can’t stand being around his grandfather.

29: An example of visual imagery in the text is, “Grandpa doesn’t understand how I could walk out on a game situation like that. He looks at me like I’m trying to eat soup with a fork” (Hoffmeister 65.)

3: My protagonist struggles with his grandma having cancer. He is trying to make his small, boring little town more interesting for his grandmas last summer probably ever. This really gets to him as well as the struggle of wanting to go pro at basketball. He constantly practices and finds it difficult to have time for anything else. He does this along with always trying to make his grandma have a good time when he’s at home, but he doesn’t get along with his grandpa who is at his house.. He even considers throwing a paperweight through a window at his grandpa.

2. The thing about this book that hooked me is on the first page when the narrator is talking about sneaking around with two duffel bags. This makes him sound like he is up to no good, which in a sense he is. We then find out that he is putting two baby caimans into the river, to spice things up around his town. We then learn his motivation behind this when he says “That’s for you, Grandma. For your last summer here.” And then says “Because [screw] cancer.”

1: Based on the title of the book I’m assuming that the story is about somebodies life which is going downhill fast but they’re still trying to make the best of it. The cover has a picture of a bike that was locked up but had every part that wasn’t was stolen, which I think is symbolism for the main character trying their best and it never working out the way they want. I think the title isn’t literal because it’s about laughing at hardships, which usually aren’t a joking matter.

5. If I could have dinner with any of the characters in the book it would be Akos and Cyra because they’re so nice and they always have there moments. Also Akos can’t leave Cryas side because he’s Cryas servant. I would probably bring them to 900 wall.
6. If I had to cast Anyone to play the role of Ryzek, it would be Mark Pellegrino because he is an amazing actor when it comes to the protagonist. For Cyra I would choose, Danai Gurira because she has the helpful part of her but also that violent side too. And Finally for Akos I would chose, Jared Padalechi because he’s really tall and he has the description of Akos. But also he is such an awesome actor when it comes to the kind person.
20. My character, Cyra would love to learn to make pain killers because she constantly in pain do to her gift/fate but her servants gift/fate lets her pain disappear when they hold hands. But with the pain killers they don’t have to hold hands everyday.
29. An example of imagery from my book is “ He grabbed Akos by the hair, wrenching his head up, and sliced along Akos jawline, ear to chin. Akos screamed.” This example shows visual, from the sight of the scene and auditory because of the sound of a child screaming from an awful pain.
3. Something that my protagonist struggles with is being touched. Her brother traded horrible memories with her making her fate/gift awaken. Turning her skin to darkness and when ever someone lays a finger on her she starts screaming bloody murder. But can also cause people pain at the same time.
2. The author was able to hook me in by having oracles (people that can see the future) see people’s fates, and someone find out what the oracles children’s fate and the have to escape their from home to be safe.
1. Based on the title, Carve the Mark, I predict that the man character becomes a warrior?

9. If I could punch any character in the face I would punch “judge” because the whole book he’s just a nuisance and just ruins everything for no reason, and just deserves it the most
5. If I could have dinner with anyone in the book I would have dinner with the main character Eva. I would want to have dinner with her so she would be able to use her gifts and show me my death. I would also pick Eva just because all the other characters in the book are boring.
6. I would cast Sarah Hyland for the main character, Eva, because they share physical similarities that the book describes for Eva and Sarah would be able to play Eva very well. For grace I would cast Kathryn Newton because her character in the society is really close to graces character in the book.
20. Something that one character in my books would invent is probably a cure to his brothers disease. Nate’s brother is the most important thing in his life, so if he could he would probably want to cure his brother
29. An example of excellent imagery is when the main character and Nate are in the hospital and her powers happen for the first time when he touches her “it was a rush of pain and fear...I felt like I was inside his body and was living his worst nightmare... I could feel every single sign of life leaving his body and I too felt like I was dying” (Melissa Mar 172).
3. My protagonist struggles with her self worth and beliefs. She recently gets in a car accident and believes that no one will accept her anymore because of her physical injuries that give her scars all over her face. With everyone new character she comes across her beliefs waver because she believes one thing about her town and her own personal morals but she doesn’t want to disappoint her parents.
2. The hook for me was when I read the line “Nate isn’t one of us, hasn’t been for a couple of years”. For some reason that hooked me because it sounded like the book was gonna be about a cult or maybe just a intense exclusion policy. This just makes the book more interesting to me because the book started closely in the middle of the action.
1. Based on the book title i predict that the story could possibly be a love story. “Made for you” sounds like a set up for one character to love another, but the love interest not returning it.

Nick is reading... Game Change by Joseph Monninger

6. If I could cast anyone to play the roles of my protagonist I would cast Brad Pitt. I think he would be good at playing this part because the protagonist, Zeb, is a sturdy build like Brad. Also I picture Zeb as looking older than the average high school student so I think Brad would match his look. I would pick the Rock to cast the antagonist TT. I think this would be a good match because they both are darker skinned and are very strong. Also many people know the Rock like they know TT. They both are popular and have a strong appearance.
20. Something that my character would love to invent is something to heal pulled muscles really fast. Something like a boot that you put on or a sleeve that reduces pressure or massages the muscles. This would really benefit him because in the last practice he got hit and pulled his calf muscle and he really wants to play but it hurts really bad. If he had this thing he could instantly heal up his leg or make it feel better so he can play up to his full potential and not have to worry about his leg slowing him down even more.
29. A good example of imagery in my book is when Zeb goes to his girlfriend, Ferron’s, house for thanksgiving. When he gets there he is asked to carve the turkey because he’s a hunter and has done it many times. Ferron brings him the electric carving knife. “It made a sharp, busy sound like a hedge trimmer” (Monninger 131). This is a good example of imagery because most people know what a trimmer sounds like because they have heard it around the neighborhood or used one. Also he compares the knife to the hedge trimmer which are two similar tools or utensils. This is auditory imagery because it’s using context that when you think of it you hear the sounds of the hedge trimmer.
3. The main thing my protagonist struggles is his mental attitude. He has a hard time when he’s playing, calming down. For example when he got sent in to play he got so caught up and nervous that he forgot to say what the play was on. Also when he got home he didn’t tell his mom that he was starting in the state championship because he doesn’t want to play and have all that pressure on him. When coach calls him to his office to tell him that they have a backup if anything happens to him he automatically thing that he’s not gonna start in the game. If his mental attitude was a little bit stronger everything would be better for him.
2. The thing that hooked me int this book was in the first paragraph. It happens when they were in the last quarter of the game, winning by one touch down. That’s when their star quarter-back broke his leg and they had the state championships in a week. This really hooked me because I want to see how the rest of it goes. If the backup quarter-back can lead them to the state championship and win. Also it starts out right in the middle of a game so there’s a lot of action which I think is a good hook.
1. Based on the title, Game Change, I predict that the book will be about a football game that suddenly changes. I predict that the star player will end up getting hurt in a important game and the backup player has to come in. I think the title is literal because the game will actually change.

6.I would cast Tom, the protagonist, as Tom Holland because they are the same age share a first name and look kinda similar I think he was fit the role well. I would cast the antagonist, Joel, as Dylan O Brian (when he was in the maze runner) because they both want to be the leader of the group and are around the same age.
20. Something a character would love to invent is a GPS or radio kit in a protected area inside a plane. So if it were to crash somewhere far from people you could contact people to get rescued or just now where you are so you can get out.
29. An example of visual imagery is, “the sunset came somewhere beyond the orange mist, and total darkness descended” (Wignall 187). An example of visual and tactile imagery is, “a blast of light and heat and heat and wind, knocking him backward onto the ground, filling the sky with a brief blinding flash and flying debris as the bunkhouse blew apart and disintegrated” ( Wignall 216).

3. The protagonist, Tom, struggles with helping all of the survivors get out of the jungle, he also struggles with the other kid Joel because want to have the authority over everyone in the group but he usually doesn’t make very good decisions.

2. The first few pages of just the prelude it talks about the butterfly effect and how Tom would have never been in the situation where the plane ended up crashing. Also the first chapter quickly starts with a plane crashing, this leaves you wondering about who will survive and get out of the jungle where they crashed.

1. Based on the tittle, When We Where Lost I think it will be about people being lost probably in a jungle, maybe in a plane crash based on the smoke rising from a jungle in the picture on the cover.

9. If I could punch anyone in the face it would be Tucker’s father. I feel this way because he seems like he’d have a punchable face and he is always giving attitude to tucker, later in the story he would even attempt to kill his own son so that makes me want to punch his face even more. I honestly don’t like his dad especially once he came back from the portal.
5. If I could take any character out to eat I would take Kosh. I feel like kosh is my style of character since he’s a cool motorcycle type of guy, also I think that we’d have a lot in common and if I could take him to any place to eat it would have to be any rib place. I feel like that would be a good style for him and I love ribs
20. My character was just an ordinary kid just getting through life until his father was sucked into a floating orb from the future absorbed his father. Tucker would love to find his lost parents and he also thinks he’s got a clue on where they are at.
29. An example of visual imagery in the text is, “Or would it be like jumping into a volcano” (Hautman 145)
An example of auditory Imagery is, “ with that realization there came a faint hissing noise” (Hautman 145
3. My protagonist would end up struggling through his father losing interest in god for some reason after he disappears and reappears. Later his mother would turn out to have autism and everyone take a big hit with that. The narrator would also start seeing ghosts and seeing an orb appear out of no where, he walks into their room with his dad crying. Tucker goes to bed he wakes up to neither of them being there and just a note saying they’ll be gone for awhile Tucker ends up going with his uncle.
2. At first the book was just about a normal Christian family and around the 3rd page Tucker’s dad would just disappear out of no where. He would later come back but physically different and more depressed and all of a sudden he didn’t believe in god, he also had a little girl with him who had almost black eyes. I’m very interested because I want to know where the dad went and what happened to him. A little bit later in the book his mom would also become different and later revealed that she had autism but no one knew I don’t think even the mom knew it’s more like a separate personality.
1. Based on the title, there is a giant orb that had many things inside it with smoke coming from the orb, the orb is floating over a forest so I think that this orb is gonna be very important, I predict that the orb is going to help and in some cases be bad I think the title is figurative showing that the orb has a lot of power

6. If I was to cast anyone as the protagonist of my book it would be Dylan O’Brien. He would play great as Arron because Dylan O’Brien is a leader and has played in a movie just like this book in a way. And actor who could play the antagonist would be Diane Keaton. I think she would be great because she’s old like antagonist and I don’t really know anything else.

20. If the protagonist was to invent something that would help their overall lives would be a weapon that can kill her worst enemy. This would benefit the protagonist because right now they have no way of defeating the “Revinir” she’s too powerful for anyone right now and have no way of defeating her not now any way.

29. An example of auditory is “Screams and shouts rose into the air.” (165 Lisa McMann.)

3. In my story Alex one of the protagonist struggles with with many thing, for example Pan the ruler of the sea has asked Alex to create wings for her children. This is a struggle for Alex because he has no idea how he can create wings that are not part of the body. Also Alex struggles with trying to stay alive and prepare Artime and all of its people for the final battle between islands.

2. At the beginning of the book it started out in complete chaos there was a fire and it was spreading rapidly through the island, burning down any building it is path. For me this hooked me on I wanted to see what would happen would everyone die in the fire would only Quill be affected. So I kept reading to see how this story would end and how it would effect the rest of the story. In the second chapter it really hooked me, the enemy pirates where watching and preparing for a war against Artime ready to strike them down and take over there lands. That hooked me I wasn’t going just stop and let that pass I wanted to read and see the battle it made me want to read to the end and see who would win the final battle.

1. Based on the title The Unwanteds “Island Of Dragons”, I predict that Alex and his friends have to prepare for the final epic battle. I think that the island of fire and island of silence team up to destroy Artime once and for all, as Alex and Arron go to the final island to find the ruler of the sea to try and win this war and be at peace finally.

9. If I could punch anyone in my book it would be Tara, (one of the main characters) because she is very self centered and is rude to everybody because she thinks she has seniority over them. She is also very aragonite with her looks, and her actions. Her actions just make me mad, and makes the people in the book self- conscious about themselves, so I would love to punch her right in the mouth.
5. If I could have dinner with anybody in my book it would be the main characters boy friend. I would chose him because he seems like a very nice person, is athletic, and from what the story has said, he is very caring and funny. I would take him to a Mexican restaurant because he likes Mexican a lot, and so do I. I also think it’s a good place because Mexican restaurants are very low key and fun.
6. If I could chose anybody to be Tara, the protagonist, I would pick Natalie Portman because she is pretty like Tara, and is an only child. Natalie Portman was in the movie Black Swan. I would pick Spencer Boldman as the antagonist because he is innocent like Matt, and is good looking. He was in the Disney show Lab Rats.
20. Something that my character would like to invent or have, would be to have the judges always pick her for the top role on her plays and musicals. She would benefit from it because more colleges would look at her acting, and she would become more popular.
29. An example of visual imagery is “Polluted, storm-cloud-filled” air. (Boren 133)
3. Something that my protagonist struggles with is thinking of others before herself. In the notes that she writes to her friends or peers, when they have questions, or want to talk about things she will immediately change the topic to talking about he popularity, her boyfriend, or to brag about how good she is at acting.
2. The first page of the story is what hooked me on my book when it said that “Christopher, you’re the best thing that ever happened to me in this two-bit town. I’ve been longing to get the hell outta this place, but now that I’m with you.” When I read this I wanted to know why she wanted to get out of her town, until Christopher came along.
1. Based on the tittle, Folded Notes from High School, I predict that the novel will be about a love story, through notes, that are passed during class, or passed in mail boxes. The title Folded Notes from High School is a literal title because, the book is about passing notes, and the characters are in high school.

9. If I could punch one of the characters in the face, it would be Loki, because he is always causing trouble and mischief, and usually makes the protagonist fix what he’s done.
5. If I could have dinner with anyone in the text it would be Odin because he is all knowing in my book so it would be interesting to ask him questions about things that happened in history.
6. Of I could cast anyone to play the role of the protagonist they would be Harrison Ford because I fell like he is a venerable actor that would match the personality trait of Odin and if I chose the antagonist they would be Johnny Depp because I feel like he is a smart actor that would match the personality trait of Loki. They share the character trait of seeming formidable.
29. An example of auditory imagery is when ..”he informed me in a thin, reedy voice.” (Riordan 19-20)
3. Because my book is made up of short stories, I have multiple protagonists, and they each struggle with a different thing. But what they have in common is that they struggle with living in a world with the Norse gods, which disrupt their life from time to time by asking them to go on quests.
2. The authors hook was that the story started in the middle of a food fight in Asgard, and it makes people want to read more to see what happens next, where the action leads, and how it is resolved.
1. Based on the title of this book, I think this book will be about a bunch of short stories about Norse mythology where the protagonists are always getting into trouble, and the gods are up to their latest plot. But I think in the end, everyone will have completed what they set out to do.

9. If I were to punch anyone in the face it would be boob because he’s a self centered little poop. He only cares about the money in the project and does not really ever help it’s testing or anything like that. So I punch boob in the face.
5. If I were to have dinner with anyone from my book I would go with the main character who’s nam has not been mentioned yet. I would do this because he seems like the kind of person that’s like to just relax and have some good food. I would take him to probably a nice steak house because they don’t get that much great food at his house so it would be a really nice treat
6.for my protagonist I would cast Tom Holland because he has played younger roles before and I think that there personality traites match. For my antagonist I would cast Kiernan Shipka because she looked like she could play a nerd that likes building stuff. And that’s my antagonist personality
20. My protagonist would like to invent a lie detector because that’s the hole idea of the book.
29. An example of gustatory imagery in my book Is
“ the sour candy makes me pucker” (mclintosh 43).
3. My protagonist struggles with the cops and the curfew. In this book there is a curfew we’re every one has to inside by 10:30. He struggles with this because he is very far away from his house we’re him and his friends work so it takes a long time to get to his house. He sometimes does not get there in time and he gets caught by the cops and has to bribe them.
2. The hook grabbed me by saying that they were working in a garage with a mri machine monitoring brain waves. Another way they hooked me is by saying they had a curfew and that police had to be bribed.
1. Based on the title. I think that the main characters are going to stop people from talking BS. I think this because on the cover there’s a fist. I think this symbolizes that they are taking a stand toward talking BS.

Brady is reading... Somebody to Love, the Life, Death, and Legacy of Freddie Mercury by Matt Richards and Mark Langthorne

#6: If I could cast anybody to play the role of the protagonist, Freddie Mercury, I would choose Elton John, since he lived a life similar to that of Freddie Mercury. They also share a few character traits, like being rock stars, and flamboyant ones. They both wore some extreme outfits.

#20: If my main character could invent anything, he would invent a new instrument. This is because he loves music, so his invention would be music related. It would probably be something similar to a guitar or piano, since those are instruments that he has played. It would benefit him when he makes music because he would be able to make different songs using it, and it would be unique.

#29: An example of imagery in my book is, “And everybody was rushing around and didn’t know what to do exactly.” (Bulsara 23) This is an example of visual imagery, because Jer Bulsara, the person who said the quote, saw people rushing around everywhere.

#3: The protagonist in my book struggles with the HIV virus. He has this virus, and it weakened his immune system a lot, so he is very sick. He isn’t on medications for it anymore either because the medications weren’t working good enough.

#2: The part that hooked me is at the end of the prologue when it says, “This is how his life ended.

And how his dying began.” This hooked me because of the way they worded the sentence. They say “how his dying began” instead of just saying that he was dying. It makes it sound a lot more interesting, and makes me want to keep reading so that I can figure out “how his dying began.”

#1: I predict that this book is about Freddie Mercury’s life, but it probably focuses on him trying to find a partner. The title is literal because it is about Freddie’s life, when he died, what his legacy was, and him trying to find “Somebody to Love” throughout his life. So the title literal because it explains exactly what the book is about.

5. If I were able to have dinner with anyone, I would like to have dinner with Sunaina (Fatima Ghazala’s sister) because she has no problem telling the stories of what happened in Noor years ago and I would like to be able to talk to her about that because she seems to be able to show what happened in detail because she was in the middle of it, I would take Sunaina to an Arabic place because it would feel close to home for her and I decently like Arabic food because of my sister-in-law. I feel that would make a nice time.

6. If I could cast someone to play Fatima Ghazala I would cast Aishwarya Rai, because she captures Fatima Ghazala true beauty and the several movies she has done she has had the sass that Fatima Ghazala has shown in the book. No one could play the Shaitan because they are mythical creature of Arabic culture and are of form of the devil himself. But if I had to choose Nikitin Dheer because of his build, standing at 6’4 I believe he would do great since Shaitan are rumored to be tall and of muscular build.

20. Fatima Ghazala is in possession of Djinn fire which shouldn’t be possible for a mere human, so with that Zulfikar is trying to invent a way of finding how she possesses this power without alerting all of Al-Neer

29. An example of visual imagery in the text is, “Girls gather in groups, bright as the colors of a peacock’s tail, and boys, majnuns all of them, stare after them, entranced.” (Azad 50).

3. One of my protagonists struggles with the duty of war, he is crazy stressed between Fatima being Dijinn and trying to fight in the war that is mere months away, he wants to investigate where Fatima came from and how she has the flame of the Dijinn but he also has to travel and find information on the war and where they plan to attack so he can stop or in the very least hold it back until the cities are prepared to fight back.

2. The first few pages hooked me when it said “Ghazala doesn’t know which of these things attracts her the most, but since the day she lost everything, the desert has been a balm to all her hurts.” I was curious of what she lost how the desert just made her become numb to what she doesn’t have, but also just the different culture that is being presented to me from Ghazla’s view, the book has the religion of Muslim and learning all new words and new traditions is very unique and has been a great learning experience, since my brother is Muslim I’m learning more about how he does things and Ghazala is a great character to learn it from, the first minutes she had taught me two things, a city’s name and the different city’s names from the area they reside in, for example the far south is a group called Djinni who are rare battle people, these people are a great force to a part of Muslim culture, which is the mythical creatures they have called Shayateen which is a strong beast, but the Djinn blood is like poison and Ghazala being a Djinn, when the Shayateen slashed her some of her blood got on the Shayateen and it turned to ashes, all of this action in the beginning of the book got me excited to read more.

1. Based on the title, The Candle and the Flame, I predict that the protagonist is a vulnerable girl (or boy I believe more girl based on cover) and she is wandering some land, and then some antagonist is Flame and tries to make her melt like a candle and teach her bad ways, but then she stands up for herself and blows out the flame on her own candle and becomes a stronger individual then she ever was, maybe gains new powers based on the magic that can happen by her holding a flame, or she is learning to control her own powers so she can defeat a antagonist.

Noah is reading... Hosoi: My Life as a Skateboarder Junkie Inmate Pastor

9. If I could punch any of the characters in my book in the face, it would be Christian before he became sober, because all he was doing was killing himself, although I feel it is good that he went on the path he did because he went on to be a huge role model as well as inspiring pastor.
5. If I could have dinner with anybody in the book, it would be Christian Hosoi, because he is one of my role models and favorite skateboarders. I would just take him to my home and cook my own food for him because I cook some really good meals.
6. The person I would cast as my protagonist (Christian Hosoi), would be his son Classic, because he looks just like him, and he is very into skating just like his father and he would be able to do all of the skating stunts for the movie. I don’t believe that the antagonist in my book is a person, I believe it is drug use and addiction because that is the main struggle his life.
20. My protagonist would not have wanted to create anything at the point in my book where I have read, because he has everything he wants in life such as, almost infinite money from skate contests, tons of women that like him, all the drugs that he wants, and many friends to party with.
29. An example of visual and auditory imagery in the text is, “There aren’t any graduates from finishing school here, but street kids and a gnarly mixture of artists, actors musicians, models, dealers, and gangsters, all colliding with a wall of crazy skaters... Fights break out here and there, but the music just keeps bumping.”(Hosoi 147)
3. Something that my protagonist struggles with is being slowly sucked into hard drug use. He had been smoking weed since he was nine with his father and slowly as he gets older starts to do more drugs and eventually methamphetamine.
2. The first couple sentences of the book are what hooked me when it said “ Christian Hosoi has always had style. The first time I ever saw him was in a magazine, blasting a frontside Ollie to disassociate er in a small bowl.” I am very interesting in skateboarding so this made me want to keep reading and learn more about Christian Hosoi being very good at skateboarding.
1. Based on the title I know this is an autobiography about Christian Hosoi and his life going through many different stages.

9. If I could punch one character in the face it would be Gideon Blake because he keeps on letting his anger get in the way of mission causing the whole team not to succeed because of his anger.
5. I would want to have dinner with Gideon Blake because I find his character to be interesting and I want to know more about if he had any childhood friends. I would take him to a place that serves pancakes because that’s all he seems to eat and he likes pancakes.
6. I would cast Dwayne Johnson into the role of Gideon Blake, the protagonist because he could play the role and he could relate to him because Gideon Blake is an army man and is also some what strong. Also I would cast Jason Momoa as the antagonist because he is tall and a strong type character and I think he could do the role well.
20. Gideon Blake, the protagonist would love to invent a way to get information out of people. It would benefit him because he can get answers to all the questions he has so he knows what he is supposed to do.
29. an example of visual imagery in the text is “I shot to my feet and stared into the darkness” (Rossi 76)
3. The protagonist struggles with controlling his rage because he can increase people’s rage by thinking of what is best for them and then they do what he is thinking and I usually involves him not in control of his anger so they do what he thinks is best for them by using their anger.
2. The first paragraph is what hooked me because it described that the main character is in a dark room with his feet and hands tied down to a chair and about to be questioned. What makes me want to keep reading is to find out who the 3 other characters are and what they are trying to save the world from.
1. Based on the title, Riders. I predict that the book will be about 4 people who ride on horses trying to save the world from something but have some difficulties along the way, and one of the four horse riders is in the US Army.

7. Who I would want to have dinner with is Douglas Fairbanks because I would want to hear all about what it was like to be in WW2 since I’m rather curious to know, and what he was feeling at the time like if he was stressed out because the war or if he was rather calm knowing he was going to win the war. I would also probably take him to Cracker Barrel since that’s a restaurant that serves older styles of food and I’m sure he could eat there. I also think Cracker Barrel’s environment would be a good place for him to tell the stories from WW2. 6. Who I would cast for the protagonist is Tom Cruise because I think he could pull off the role as Fairbanks since he has done war and spy movies. I also think he would be able to match what Fairbanks was like in the Book because Tom was in mission impossible as a sneaky spy and Fairbanks was a sneaky spy as well when he snuck around the Nazi base to attack them. Who I would cast the role for the Nazis however is probably the empire from Star Wars because they were big and numerous army like the Nazis but they too were outsmarted by the rebels like the Nazis were outsmarted by Fairbanks.
20. Something a character in my book would love to invent and does invent is brand new (for the time) sound deception technology. How it would benefit them is they could use the technology to fool the Nazis in making them think a full army was coming at them from one direction, while the army snuck up and attacked the Nazis from behind.
29. A example of visual imagery in the text is, “...Juan Perón, secretly ordered diplomats and intelligence officers to establish escape routes.... to smuggle thousands of former SS officers out of Europe” (Janeczko 12).
3. Something my protagonist struggles with is he is trying to make himself, and how much he can be of service known in the Navy. He wants to do this in order to be able to do important missions that will help the Navy quite a bit, but he is only a lieutenant, so people don’t think he is skilled enough.
2. What hooked me into the book was the name of the first chapter “The Ghost Army Was Born” because that got me curious as to what the ghost army is, what they had done in World War 2 and the significance of their position in the war.
1. Based on the title and the text underneath it, I’m assuming this book is about how the U.S twenty third troops fooled the Nazis in World War 2.

An example of Visual imagery in the text is, “While guys’ heads were bobbing in and out of their food and their eyes were rolling back in their heads from sleep deprivation.” (Wasdin 31)
3.) My protagonist struggles with getting through SEAL training and wants to give up. He is out through vigorous training and he said it tests
his mental and physical strength.
2.) The first thing that hooked me was 2 people dying within the first 10 pages and since I don’t know who did it it had me intrigued to know who did it and how it ties with the book.
1.)

20. Something a character in my book would love to invent is something to fix her foot or some sort of boot or shoe to help her walk better or without crutches. She has what’s called a club foot and it’s gotten so bad that she can’t walk on it anymore without it causing huge amounts of pain. She also hates when people look at her foot so it would be good if it was covered and people can’t see it.
4. An example of visual imagery in the text is “Today there was nothing but glimmering sunlight, birds circling, tiny white waves crashing against the shore.” (Bradley 18) An example of auditory imagery is “A scream built up from somewhere inside me, came roaring out in an ocean of sound.” (Bradley 215)
3. Something that my protagonist struggles with is her mom. Her mom doesn’t care for her and hits her. She’s always told her that nobody cares about her and doesn’t want her because she’s a cripple. The only thing that’s keeping her there is her little brother, Jamie. She would never leave him so she has to deal with her mom.
2. The first couple pages is what got me hooked into the book. It talks about how Ada never leaves the house because her mom doesn’t want the world seeing her ugly club foot. Then Ada and her brother escapes there mom to go into the country and away from the war. I want to keep reading because I want to figure out what their mom will do when she figures out Ada left the house.
1. Based on the title, The War that Saved my Life, I predict that the book will be about the life of a girl during the time of war and the challenges that she has to overcome.

#9. If I could punch one character in the face I would punch Devon because he is a really bad personality and he wants to kill Stephen at some points for no reason. He also is really mean to Stephen even though Stephen doesn’t do anything.
#5. If I could have dinner with any character in the book I would have dinner with Stephen because he is a character that resembles me pretty good and he seems like he is fun to be around. The place that I would take them to for dinner would be a fancy restaurant. I don’t know the names of any fancy restaurant so just any fancy restaurant.
#6. The people I would cast for my antagonist would be any kid actor because I don’t know any kid actors and my antagonist is a kid. For my protagonist I would pick any kid actor also because he is a kid and I still don’t know any kid actors.
#20. My character in my book (Stephen) would like to invent a time machine because he doesn’t want to live where he moved to and he had to move because his mom got sick and she went mental so his dad had to find somewhere cheap to live.
#29. A example of auditory imagery in the text is “No good will come of fooling with the devil’s instruments! Now hand them to me!” (Brewer 27)
3. My protagonist struggles with his family moving because he had all of his friends in his original town and now he has no friends where he moved and he is living with his grandma now and he doesn’t like her already because she is mean and has to have everything really clean.
2. The hook that got my attention was the title and the way they started the book. When they started the book it was something chasing them, the narrator said that his hands were bleeding and he was hoping that the creatures couldn’t get him because he couldn’t go up any higher because of how bad he was hurting.
1. Based on the title of the book I think that it is 2 boys that like to go into the cemetery at night and they write story’s of what happened that night and they write in this book a lot.

9. If I could punch anyone in the face in my book, it would be the main characters dad for doing shady stuff, and basically ruining his sons life.
5. If I could have dinner with anyone in the text, I’d have dinner with the main character, while he’s undercover, so I could see him doing his job in real life. I just think it would cube cool to see that.
6. I think Logan Lerman would be a good actor for the main protagonist, because he is good at being a teenager, with secrets. There is not main antagonist, and the people who might be, doesn’t have a description of what the look like.
20. He doesn’t want to invent anything in this book.
29. An example of auditory imagery in the text is, “Past the security vehicles, the police officers, the chatter of voices over the shortwave radios (Allen Zadoff 11).
3. I don’t think my protagonist struggles with anything to be honest.
2. The hook for me in this book was on page 8 through 9. It was about the main character killing his friends dad, but they made it seem very interesting and not at all morbid.
1. Based on the title of this book, I think this book will be about a person being an assassin.

6. I would punch darks the is because she was really friendly to my main character until she tried to assassinate her. She also knocked out my main character.
5. I would have dinner with owl Rex because he is a literal talking owl and it would be fun to have a conversation with a bird. I would eat at his house because he lives in a mansion and I would get to explore a place barley anyone else has explored, wildwood.
6. For my protagonist I would choose Natalia Dyer because I feel like she would play my sad and distressed protagonist, Prue well. For my antagonist I would choose Anthony Hopkins because I feel like he would make a good hitman. I don’t know anything about the hitman in the book yet but i think Anthony Hopkins would make a good hitman because he played Hannibal Lecter in silence of the lambs. 20.Something to make them invisible because he doesn’t want to leave wildwood but his best friend is in danger that is not in wildwood.
29. Out on the dark avenue, a red traffic light changed to green, and the shine of passing headlamps flashed the front window. (Meloy 78 and 79.)
1.Based on the title, Under Wildwood, I predict that the book will explore wildwood just like the first in the series. But this time it might explore something underground, or it could be non literal and it could be talking about more of the secrets of wildwood.
2. It describes a snowy forest and gets right into a scene of a group of people on horseback chasing a carriage to rob it.
3. The character Prue is struggling with being lost mentally. She is struggling in school and wants to go back to wildwood, she feels like something is dragging her back there but she won’t go.

5. If there were a character I would take to dinner it would be the raven from “the raven” because I think it would be fun and because ravens are cute like most birds. 20. The main character in the story “the raven” would most likely want to invent a way to resurrect the dead. The benefit of this would be that the main characters wife would be alive again. 29. An excellent example of imagery in my book is in one of the stories called “the tell tale heart” when the narrator of the story describes the old mans eye “He had the eye of a vulture a pale blue eye, with a film over it”: Edgar Alan Poe (pg.66). 3. Something that my protagonist from the story “cask of amontillado “ struggled with tricking his friend saying there was what I believe was wine in the caverns .

2.The book hooked me in when I read the first story it was about a prince who's kingdom was being affected by the Red death and the prince gathered all the rich people and locked himself and all the other rich people in his castle which then the embodiment of the red deaths killed them all. 1.I predict based on the book title and the title illustration that the stories and poems will be very dark and disturbing.

I would like to eat sinner with Jacob because he is the nicest and most interesting character in the book so far, I would like to take home to Red Robin because it has good food and it’s not a dump
6.if I could cask anyone I feel like I would make Jacob Dwayne Johnson because their both intimidating also their both strong for Avery I would have Matt Damon because their both funny.
20. I think he would like to invent a suit that can heal him or lower stress and anxiety I think this would benefit him in battle or in a stressful situation.
29. “The floater swooped down into a valley and sped for the far end.” (Stahler 205) witch I think is a visual.
3. The protagonist faces his fears and his anxiety, ha also faces his past and about killing things
2. I like how David Stahler JR hooked me in because he started off talking about what situation he is in and how bad it is.
1.based on this book I think that it will be about people who try to find other planets and find a whole new space

Zane Schendel is Reading... Rot&Ruin By Jonathan Maberry

9.) If I could punch any character it would by far be Chong. In the whole story he’s the stupid whiny little wimp that tries to sneak back to safety and puts everyone in danger when he inevitably gets ambushed by bandits or the living dead. He lacks reason for strength in numbers and really makes the stupidest decisions and whines all the time and is completely and utterly useless.

5.) If I could have dinner with any character from this book I would have dinner with Tom Imura. Tom seems cool and I would like to ask him about the apocalypse and other stuff. I wouldn’t choose the main character Benny because he seems like he’s not to fun to be around.
6.) I think a good actor for Tom Imura would be Sung Kang from the fast and the furious because he would capture the lone wolf, katana-wielding aspects that are shown in Tom throughout the book. In addition, he would have plenty of experience in movies which have combat in them

20.) the main character Benny struggles with trusting his brother and understanding why he doesn’t kill all of the zombies he comes across. I think he would like to invent a cure to the zombie virus to prevent the deaths of many people and gain the respect of his brother and save the entire world.
1.)Based on the title, I think the book Rot&Ruin will be about zombies and the people who survived the wreck of the remaining world, hence the rot, as in zombies, and the ruin, as in the remaining survivors in a
destroyed world. So this would be a more literal title

2.) The first thing that hooked me was the narrators description of what the characters call “First Night”. A cataclysmic event when the dead rose and anyone who died after first night became a zombie too. During first night, both of the narrators parents were zombified. The narrators father died in his sleep and rose from the dead and bit his mother. His mother was then zombified and he and his brother escaped. This was dropped right into the middle of the action and this drew me in.

3.)Some things my narrator struggles with is zombies(obviously) And a main thing highlighted in the first few chapters is his antipathy towards his brother, Tom. Tom is a zombie bounty hunter who Benny the protagonist blames for their parents deaths. Benny claims he is a coward and left them to die.

29.)Some examples of imagery in the text are visual “the rotting teeth of the zom and the reaching white hands”(Maberry 214) and tactile “the shock of each impact shot like hot needles up his shin”(Maberry 216)

6. If I could cast anyone to play the role of Skye, the protagonist, it would be Jennifer Lawrence because she has a fighting passion to push through anything like Skye. I would also cast Chris Hemsworth as Jesse because he has the ability to persevere through the strangest of situations that occur.
20. Skye, the protagonist, would like to invent a device that erases minds. Her brother, Luka, was a school shooter and everyone thinks that she is going to shoot up the school. So if she could erase all of the students minds, then she wouldn’t have to worry about rumors getting spread about her bringing guns to school and threatening to shoot up the school.
29. An example of of auditory imagery in the text is, “The screen fills another image. The girl, under her desk, sprawled, and there’s blood...”(Armstrong 58).
3. Something that my protagonist struggles with is that her older brother was a school shooter and so she moved away for a couple years and when they come back, no one has forgotten who she was so she gets bullied a lot.
2. The hook in the book was about a school shooter, but I didn’t know who until his sister kept thinking he was shot and killed, but I soon found out that he was the school shooter and had shot his sisters best friends brother.
1. Based on the title of the book, I think it’s going to be about what happens after a school shooting has occurred and what it might be like to have a sibling that did the school shooting.

2.) First the author opens up the book with a interesting introduction with how they want to go on a quest of self discovery. The narrator talks about traveling to their grandparents house in a tiny town called, Kyoto japan. The story starts off with the narrator talking about wandering on a path full of cherry blossom trees and then getting distracted and following the sent of food stands. The first page ends with the narrator talking about their favorite food. The reason why I want to keep reading is because I am fascinated with Japanese culture and would like to learn more.

3.) Something my protagonist struggles with is making friends, My protagonist opens up to strangers he meets at the super market but gets quickly denied. When my protagonist moves to japan he already has one friend named, Atsuko but still struggles to meet new people.

29.An example of visual imagery in the text is, Atsuko slides up to me, munching on a hand full of trail mix. She’s wearing baggy yoga pants. (Fic Kuhn pg.10)

20.)The main character in my new book is naruto uzumaki, one thing I have noticed so far is that he wants to create a friendship with sasuke, the reason why this would be Beneficial for naruto is a friend he could have through the ninja academy but sasuke is stubborn.

6. If I could cast anybody to play the role of my protagonist and antagonist I would choose Gon from hunter x hunter who is best known For the main character for being bold, risky and brave. For my antagonist I would choose killua because he is often known for his dark past and often being rude, quiet and self-centered

5. If I could have dinner with anyone in my book it would have to be kakashi. I personally would go to Ichiraku ramen because it’s a famous noodle bar in my book that everyone seems to love. The reason I would take kakashi would be because he is a gentle humble person that would have good manners at the dinner table.

9. If I could punch one of the characters in the face, it would be Lindsey because she is always finding ways to make Clara and Hailey’s life harder by anything from making a big scene out of something small they did or flirting with the guy she knows Clara likes. She does these things and then talks nice to their face.
5. If I could take anyone in my book out to dinner, it would be Hailey and Clara (they are conjoined so both would have to come). It would be interesting to hear about what life if like for them and how they cope with their struggle. I would take them somewhere out of their home town, and we would get food they had never had before since they never have the opportunity to experience new places or things.
6. I would choose Kiefer and Rachel Sutherland because to play Hailey and Clara because they are twins. In his role in Designated Survivor, Kiefer’s character has to suddenly become president after the Capital building in blown up. Like Hailey, he adapts to change well and is willing to make a difference in his live and the lives of others. His twin, Rachel Sutherland, is more reserved like Clara and works behind the scenes and is not as well known. The antagonist is not really a person, but rather the struggle of being different and making the decision to stay in their safe little hometown where everyone knows them or go out into the world and pursue their passions.
20. Something a character would love to invent is a store full of clothes custom made for them. Everything they buy has to be altered by their mom. If they had a store with clothes made for them it would make it a lot easier on them and their mom.
29. An example of visual imagery in the text is, “Like a trail of zombies, the dudes went shuffling out to meet Lindsey and her gang in the driveway”(Mukherjee 125). An example of visual and auditory imagery is, “His grin was of dizzying splendor, and his voice completely relaxed”(Mukherjee 116).
3. The protagonists, Hailey and Clara, struggle with living a normal life. They live in a small town where they know everyone and have custom made seats, tables, desks, and other things to make their life easier. Hailey wants to pursue art, but is held back by their condition and the fact that Clara is not into art holds her back. One of the boys she likes invited her to go to another art campus, but Clara doesn’t want to go. There is a new student Max that Clara likes, but she is afraid to make a move bring the more shy and conservative twin. There is an option for surgery, but it is very risky. The twins are stuck between wanting to go in different directions with their lives and getting the surgery or staying in the small town and continue to live boring lives.
2. The author uses the hook to get my attention by describing the condition the twins have. They are joined together at their lower backs, have linked spinal cords, have tangled intestines, and share sensations on their lower body. It makes me want to keep reading to see how they overcome the daily struggles of their condition

1.Based on the title of the book, I think is will be about a struggle that pair of twins go through because the zodiac sign Gemini represents twins. It could either be literal twins or figurative twins if it represents two people that are really close

6. In my book their is women named Joanna and she is the always the first to help others but it also fierce you could say she is a protagonist. I feel the Jennifer Lawrence would be a good fit to play this character sense she gives of the caring but worrier vibe. In my book their is also a man named Florian and he is a antagonist, he think he can do everything by himself and doesn’t usually think of how his actions could hurt others. I think that Chris Hemsworth would be a good person to play this character sense he is very masculine and snotty but can also have a sweeter side like my antagonist in my book.
20. I think charter from my book (Joanna) would like to invent a portable hospital because she is always treating others. And sense their are in the middle of a war resources are very low, so it would be nice to have a way to help others when they are moving around a lot to hide from the German soldiers.
29. An example of imagery from by book is, “She pealed my sticky shirt from the mass of congealed blood” (Sepetys 32). This whole sentence was a example of visual imagery because it the writer talks about how it looked with the sticky shirt and congealed blood.
3. Something my protagonist struggles with is staying alive. The characters is put in a situation where every move they make could be life threatening. All she want to do is find a safe place where she is
safe. But it doesn’t look like that is possible when thousands of German soilders are trying to kill her and the people she is trying to survive with.
2. The first sentences of my book was “Guilt is a hunter. My conscience mocked me, picking fights like a petulant child.” I had many question after reading these 2 sentences like why was she guilty, what had happened. I had felt like I needed to find out why she felt this way. In the next sentence the same girl said “I quickened my pace and caught up with the small group.” This once again got me asking more question it seemed the book had started right when thing here getting complicated for this girl (joana).
1. Based on the title of my book, I predict that it will be a story about trouble at sea. I also assume it will be about multiple people because on the cover of my book their are multiple life rings in the water (I think it is more of a literal title). And I think it is based on a war that was happening.

29. An excellent of visual imagery is “I’d seen San Francisco in pictures before but never in real life. It was probably the most beautiful city I’d ever see: kind of like a smaller, cleaner Manhattan, if Manhattan had been surrounded by green hills and fog. There was a huge bay and ships, islands and sailboats, and The Golden Gate Bridge sticking up out of the fog,” (Riordan 222). An example of visual imagery is the whole passage when he is taken about how beautiful the city is an cleaner and smaller than Manhattan. Also when he talks about the hills and the fog and the Golden Gate Bridge sticking out of the fog.
3. My protagonist struggles with losing one of his best friends well they were fighting. Now no one will help him go look for her cause they all think she is fine and doesn’t need help. All of his other friends aren’t really worried about her. If I could cast anyone to play the role of Percy Jackson would be the same person who played him in the movies of the first two book for the fourth book which is Logan Lerman. He makes a good Percy because he just looks like a kid who would a fighter and he also plays the part of him being kinda award as well. I would want I would have not who played Luke in movies because he doesn’t really fit the role now because his body is now a vessel for Kronos (the lord of time) I would want Jason Manon because he would have a better person for the role of the leader of the titians army.
20. If Percy Jackson could invent something it would be to have something to help him figure out who is a monster and who isn’t. This would benefit him and the rest of the campers because when they are using the mist they can’t always see through it, cause the monster who are more powerful can hide themselves a lot better than lower monster.

Mrs. Mottern is reading... Circe by Madeline Miller

9. If I could punch anyone in the face (actually, I would want to slap him in the face), it would be Glaucos. Circe risked everything to change him in to a demigod and, in return, he ditched her and sought out "bigger and better" opportunities. He simply used her and dumped her and Circe never would have been banished.
5. If I could have dinner with anyone in the text, it would be Hermes. Aside from the fact that he seems like the mischievous and quick-witted with a good sense of humor, I would like to hear about his world travels since he has had the opportunity to travel all over as the messenger of the Gods.
6. If I could cast anybody to play the role of Circe, the protagonist, it would be Sophie Turner (known for her role as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones). I think Sophie would be able to capture both the inner strength, beauty, and vulnerability of Circe. I would also cast Jason Momoa as Helios (or, quite frankly, and other God) because of physical prowess/size and intimidating glare. His sun-drenched skin and crystal blue eyes would make a lot of sense for the God of the Sun.
20. Circe would want to invent a potion to make Glaucos fall in love with her. After she turned him in to a God, he saw her as a sister and wanted a more beautiful nymph to marry.

5.) I would want to have dinner with Instructor Kawalski to hear about his time in the service and what it is like training young marines and would have a ton of questions. Although, he seems very angry in the book so I would assume he would have a very hot temper if someone got his order wrong or something. I would take him to Arby’s because it has good food.

I would go to Taco Bell or another fast food/really cheep place because I collectively have like 8 bucks.

9. If I could punch anyone, I would slap them but it would have to be Luke at the start of the book. He is just annoying and makes me mad I really would just want to hit him. Through out the whole book it would have to be Percy. Like Luke he isn’t really help the story and he is the main character. He just does things that he shouldn’t doesn’t do other thing that he needs to do. He just makes me upset and then he figures it out at the end.

5. If I could have dinner with anyone in the text, it would be Artemis. I would want to have dinner with her because she is just one of my favorite goddess and she is just amazing in this book. Also she would bring the hunters of Artemis because they go everywhere with her because they are a family. It would be amazing to meet this strong and brave women who have gave up so much to be a hunter. Artemis is as you should know the goddess of the hunt and she can turn any body into any animal and control I guess you could say the animals. She always bring a deer or wolves or something else. Lastly it would unbelievable to have dinner with a goddess.

She has crazy stories to tell and I think we would get along very well. She is a innocent young girl like me so I feel we would become good friends. And I would take her to a very nice and expensive restaurant because it seems like she doesn’t get a lot of attention at home, and it is nice to feel fancy every one in a while.
9. If I could punch one of my charters I would punch Alice. I would punch her to hopefully knock some sense into her lost brain. She keeps making these decisions that will hurt in the future because other keep pure pressuring her. All she needs to do is say no to these people. And maybe a punch in the face will do the trick to get her back on the right track.

6.) If I could punch anyone in the face I would punch the guys that left Howard and one other guy to carry the boat and do all the work through BUDS. That was pretty lame on their part for just giving up and leaving their other teammates. Howard and the other guy still finished but they could have done way better on the PT Course if they didn’t have to do all the boat stuff. Also Howard is a pretty relaxed and laid back guy so when he says he hates someone it’s probably for a good reason. Those are the only guys I would punch in the face because they couldn’t do their job and made the rest of the team suffer.
5.) If I could have dinner with anyone in the book I would have dinner with Howard Wasdin because of experience and missions as a Navy Seal. I would go to some place fancy with him and want to listen about the missions he did because they were so extreme. Also he had a very rough childhood so he would be very inspirational. It would just be a lot of fun to listen to his stories and get to know him.
