The first Paralympic Games were held in Rome, Italy in 1960 and featured 400 athletes from 23 countries. In 1976 Örnsköldsvik, Sweden staged the first Paralympic Winter Games. The Games are now the second biggest sporting event in the world.

Paralympics has grown from a small gathering of British World War II veterans in 1948 to become one of the largest international sporting events by the early 21st century. Paralympians strive for equal treatment with non-disabled Olympic athletes, but there is a large funding gap between Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

The Olympic Games, which originated in ancient Greece as many as 3,000 years ago, were revived in the late 19th century and have become the world’s preeminent sporting competition. From the 8th century B.C. to the 4th century A.D., the Games were held every four years in Olympia, located in the western Peloponnese peninsula, in honor of the god Zeus. The first modern Olympics took place in 1896 in Athens, and featured 280 participants from 13 nations, competing in 43 events. Since 1994, the Summer and Winter Olympic Games have been held separately and have alternated every two years.

She was born March 14 of 1997, is an American artistic gymnast. Biles is the three-time world all-around champion (2013–15), four-time United States national all-around champion (2013–16), three-time world floor champion (2013–15), two-time world balance beam champion (2014, 2015), and a member of the gold medal-winning American teams at the 2014 and the 2015 World Artistic Gimnastic Championships.
Biles is the first African-American to be world all-around champion and the first woman to win three consecutive world all-around titles. Biles is also the most decorated American female gymnast in World Championships history, with a total of fourteen medals, ten of them gold. With ten gold medals, Biles also holds the record for most gold medals won by a female gymnast in the history of the World Championships.

Natalie du toit is an amagazine sportwomen, she is a swimmer. She was born in Cape town is South Africa. She start compiting when she was fourteen years old but in 2001 she had a bad accident on her scooter and she left her left leg. A lot of people thought that was the end for swimming for Natalie but she start compiting again six months after the accident. She start swimming when she was very Young, she was six years old. She dreamed of going to the olympics games. One year later she won a gold medal in an internacional competition in britain. She didn´t use a weelchair because she wanted to be independent. In 2004 she won five gold medals against other athletes with disabilities in the paralympics games. In 2008 her dream came true when she qualifaded for the 2008 beijing olympics games. Natalie was the first amputee to swim at the olympics. She did´t win a medal but she came sixteen in the race and she carried her country flag at the ceremony.
