As an early childhood teacher, the theories that specifically inform my work are that of Lev Vygotsky who believes play is the foundation of learning, and in order for children to learn effectively, they need stimulation and scaffolding.

As an early childhood teacher, I personally believe that children learn best through hands-on experiences, trial and error, and interactive play. This belief is through my years working as a lead educator in the early years. Although planned activities are crucial, the children thrive through spontaneous play and extending their own interests.

I believe curriculum encompasses all the learning throughout the day, be it a planned lesson or socialising with their friends during recess.

I believe diversity means recognising each person for their individual strengths and what makes them unique, in a respectful way.

Curriculum

I define curriculum as a guide for learning. I do not think curriculum as a "plan" as it may restrict how people learn things and how teacher run the programs to meet each child's needs. It helps teacher to keep up with the standards. I also think curriculum is reflective, meaning that it needs to be ongoing and developing.

Diversity

Acknowledging and respecting who we are as everyone is different
