Shepherd's daughter had actually passed away from natural causes according to the website, her step-daughter began with vomiting, and began to be unresponsive as she passed into a coma.

Who was three-and-a-half-years-old who happened to be her step-daughter.

According to Doctor Charles Smith who was a paediatric forensic pathologist at the time working for Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children. Dr. Smith said the cause of her death was abuse, which involved blows to her head, that left a “watch-shaped mark under her scalp”.

The link's relevance in my opinion basically explained Shepherd's story in a few sentences, as to why she became the main suspect, when it all happened, how she pleaded guilty even though she was very much so innocent and still did the time in prison hoping one day they would find her innocent.

Since then Shepherd has been released from prison after being wrongfully convicted of a crime she did not commit.

Shepherd had her name cleared and since then she achieved her goals and is now working as a paralegal, fully licensed by October 28, 2016.

Shepherd and her son are now working, with their busy work schedules and living their life successfully as they should.
