I feel like birth order doesn't really effect anyone's future. I do, however, believe it affects the role you have in your family. In my family the oldest is always taking care of the younger siblings and doing all the chores. The middle child and the youngest doesn't do anything. That's just what my family does, but I'm sure it's different for others.
I personally, am the oldest and I'm constantly taking care of my sisters and the house while my parents are working. That work may push me to be more motivated, but my siblings are just as motivated as me. I think it all just depends on the person.

The person I chose to write about is my dad. My dad has been my best friend for as long as I can remember. When I was around 12-13 he and I began to grow distant, cause you know, moody teenager. But when I was around 14 I had a revelation, my dad won't always be here with me. There will eventually be a time where he is gone. So, I started spending more time with him. I now try to sit down and watch football or baseball whenever I can. I do this because he enjoys those things and I think it makes him happy when I sit and watch, and he can teach me about the sports. But my dad has also been admiring my passions as well. When I'm sitting in the living room playing video games, he will sometimes sit down with me and ask about what I'm playing, what I'm doing in said game, etc. I really like that, even though sports aren't my favorite and video games aren't his, we still hang out and enjoy each other's presence, and have a good time.

I think the birth order does effect on things. I am the oldest in my family and I have more to do then my other siblings. My mom is strict on me but not as bad as my dad but that could be because his Hispanic and I'm his only daughter. But, my other siblings get to go out and do more than me and I don't get that because they're younger. When my other siblings get to go out and play I have to stay home and clean. And I am not aloud to go over to other people's house they have to come to mine; when it's the opposite for my sisters. But I don't think it can really effect a person's future only the person themselves can do that. But it can help you do thing's differently in the future.
- Adrianna Diven.

My mom is someone I look up to, she is my role model. She has 6 kids including me, I'm thankful to have her around and also for giving me siblings, I'm the 2nd oldest out of the pack. Me & my mother are really close we have our moments where we love to be around each other 24/7, but we also have our moments where we can't stand each other so we just keep to ourselves. In the 14 years I've been in this world my mother has done everything in her power she could to make sure I had everything I needed, clothes on my back, a roof over my head, and food in my stomach. I honestly wouldn't trade my mom for nothing she means to much to me & I don't think anyone else could put me first like she does, she makes sure everything is straight for her kids before she worry's about herself. She has been through a lot but yet she still stays strong for her kids so we don't have to see her at her lowest because we know sometimes it's tough but honestly my mom is my real best friend

I don't think the birth order really has an effect on your future but it does on the way you think. In my family I am the 3rd child out of 4 children. My aunt has always called it 3rd child syndrome because the 2 older siblings get almost everything first and get the cool new items, and the youngest always get her way with just a please. So, the 3rd child is stuck in the middle cause they don't every really get there way unless it is for everybody or they have earned it nor can they get cool new item they are always get the older siblings clothes. But the youngest can never fit them so she get brand new clothes. The only effect it really has I think is you try harder on this to get some affection from your parents. Like trying harder on your academics and on your sports, and cleaning up a lot. So it can shape your future at little

I agree with the statement, "It's not the years in the life but the life in the years that matters". I agree with this because I believe that the number of years you live doesn't determine your life. What you do during those years are important. The choices and decisions you make are essential to the life you wish to live. I have a ton of things I want to experience such as being able to make my own decisions without interference and the what-ifs. Life is too short to be asking yourself "What if this..?" or "What if that..?". Even simple things like growing old and watching people grow up, it's a part of life. I want to be able to look back at the things I was able to do and be proud. I don't want to look back and think "Oh, I should've done this..." or even "Oh, if I did this...maybe things would've turned out different.." I want to be a pilot so I am striving to join the Air Force after I get my bachelors degree. I want to also be able to speak over 4 languages by the time I get to college. Also I want to be some sort of Software Engineer. These things are important to me because I wouldn't know what to do with my life if I didn't have goals. I don't want to be sitting around doing nothing just because I didn't feel motivated enough to find something I could potentially do as a career.

-Leila Hill

I believe birth order does have an effect on a person's future. I am the youngest child my sister is 21 years old, and I am 14. I believe that my sister being older gave my parents indications of what can help in raising a child before having me. This makes me believe that my parents have raised me with more experience giving me a better future than my sister. The role in family is definitely relative to the age of the child. As the youngest my older sister takes care of me a lot and does things for me. Though my sister is older I have better say with my parents because of their belief in my responsibility, maturity and intelligence. My parents don't like the decisions my sister made in life and how she dealt with problems, so my role has been set higher as they have more faith in my abilities due to my achievements.
- Logan Lawson

I believe birth order may have an affect on what you do when you grow up, there are studies that focus on how being an only child or an older or even middle child will grow up and act different than the other kids. I also believe it depends on the culture of who you are born to, in some places the first born son inherits everything and is supposed to take care of everyone in the house when the father dies. In my household i am the oldest, I do not feel i have any roles other than teaching my little brother right from wrong, I do think because of teaching my little brother it has made me a better speaker and I can relate easily with other kids.

By Jose A. We are not always there to annoy each other. We have had many good times together, like one time when we were little, we covered our whole driveway with Disney characters in chalk and it was really fun. We have also had our moments where we want to kill each other like all siblings do. One time we were sitting at the counter and all of the sudden we just started fighting for no reason. But most days, I'm glad I have her as a sister.

to answer the first question yes, I do believe me being the youngest out of my three siblings will help me be more successful. I believe that because I get to witness the things my older siblings get to try like the military, college, or heading straight into the work force to see what failed, what didn't, who could they have use to get in this position. my role in in my family is very diverse because I am the youngest, somedays I'm giving my oldest brother advice about important decision, the next I'm helping my oldest sister school work, then there telling things I should do. I really feeling that younger sibling, at least in my family, are the glue that keeps everyone together. without me, who knows where they would be in life.

This family member is my dad. We have a long distance type of relationship. Sense I live with my mom I don't see him quite often because he lives in Texas and its like an 18 hour drive there. But I've gotten closer with him over the years. I actually wasn't very close to him sense he didn't really raise me. The reason is its because I moved out of Texas when I was like 6 and also, I don't really remember anything before 7. But there was this summer I decided to stay with him for A whole year which I don't regret at all. Its one of my best decision I've ever made. After that year we created more of a bond. Some memories I enjoy are us having movie nights with him and my step mom. we also played video games together which I really enjoy just because when I'm with my mom we don't really do anything am interested in. Its not a bad thing its just my mom doesn't enjoy it so we don't really play. But anyways some games we would play would be like Pokémon go. We would walk to different places to fight other Pokémon gyms and catch different/rare Pokémon. But at the end I decided to go back with my mom but I'm debating if I should move back with him.

I don’t think birth order has an effect on people's future. There are certain expectations and responsibilities you have as an older sibling. For example, when I was growing up my older brother always took care of us, when our parents were at work, like when he would make us food or make sure we did our homework. He was always like another parent. I'm a middle child, so I don’t really have many responsibilities because my older brother still lives with us, but my parents expect me to make my little brother food if I make some for me. I think the order you were born in only really matters at home, because out in the real world no one cares that you are a middle child.

If I am in trouble or need help, I know for sure my mother going to be there front and center. A special moment that me and my mother shared was when she first started her party decorating business. Me and my mother both enjoy decorating and working on different arts and crafts to make party's look like, professionals came and designed it. we had started making name towers for people baby showers and birthday party, which allowed my mom to get more money and more people to ask for her help. A time that our relationship caused me to be embarrassed or shame was when I had got in trouble 5th grade. My mother knows that I care about what I put on when I go to school. she Know I love my Nikes, Jordan's, graphic tees and sweatshirts. When I got in trouble she sent me to school in a church dress, church shoes, and church socks. I was so embarrassed. She even took a picture it posted it on her Facebook so the whole fam could see.

I also agree with this axiom because if you live to be 100 and you don't do anything you just wasted those 100 years but if you live 70 and you accomplish all your goals and help other people you would have accomplished something.

I think family order affects somebody as they grow up but not their future. If you're the eldest child in the household there's a chance that you'll either be raised very loosely or very strictly because you're the first child and that's usually when people are new to parenting or experimenting. A lot of people would say that middle children would be the peace-keeper, or the social butterfly as they don't get the privilege's as the oldest or youngest children. Being the youngest child usually means that you get the most privilege's because you're the baby of the family and tend to get what you want when you want it. This may not be true since they're all stereotypes but that doesn't depict what happens in you future. Because one day children depart from their parents and goes to do their own things at your own will. You could still contribute to any of these stereotypes based on how you were treated as a child but its up to you if you change the way you act or choose to be treated

Does birth order matter? Personally being the youngest child I do feel like I am the baby of the family. As my sister would say I am spoiled and always get my way, but I don't think that's always true. My older sister is independent and is expected to be the responsible one. But I wouldn't say I'm not any less than what she is. People say the youngest have it easy. I don't think that's true I personally believe we are being but on a higher pedestal, having to meet these expectations of an older sibling. I try just as hard in school and maybe even harder then my sister, but the way we success in life shouldn't be told by our birth order. Yes we might be treated differently depending on age, but it doesn't make anyone less capable. - Joyous

I believe birth order does effect on some things in life. I am 14 years old while my oldest sister is 16 and I have more things to do in the house than all my other siblings. My other siblings get to go out every weekend when some weekends I'm stuck in the house wishing I could go somewhere. My mom is very hard on me especially when it comes to school, I understand she wants me to do good but she gets upset when my grades are bad but when my siblings grades are bad she just tells them to stop slacking. When my siblings get to go outside of the house and go hangout with their friends or whatever they go do, I'm stuck in the house cleaning or babysitting. I'm rarely allowed to go over to people's houses they sometimes have to come to my house. I don't think it can effect your future at all because only yourself can do that, but it does help you change things in your future.

I am the oldest sibling in my family and I feel like birth order does affect the future as well as the present. Being the oldest there's a lot of high expectations and because of that there's more judgement. I have this feeling like I have to be a perfect role model for my sisters. I'm overall a good daughter and student but I still make mistakes, I feel like my family is harder on me because I'm the oldest. I see that my parents still baby my siblings because their younger but I feel like they should work just as hard as me. I do a lot around the house and with my siblings and I think that will effect my future, by making me work harder to get things accomplished.

I personally think that birth order might have an effect on a persons future. The reason I think this is because of the fact that one might be overshadowed by a older brother or sister because of their accomplishments. The younger sibling might feel like they're not worth anything because of the things that their sibling is doing as well as the lavish praise that the sibling is getting from the parental figures. I'm the oldest child out of two male children, my brother is 3 (4 in March) and I'm 14. I worry about this happening to him because of the age gap between us.

I agree with statement because you don't want your life to be set like planed in a certain way. You should plain your life but also be able to have fun while doing the plains or goals you want to do and/or achieve. Think about the stories you would tell your kids in the future if you some. You wouldn't want to just tell them " I graduated high school went straight to collage met you dad/mom and had you". You should want to tell them how when you were in high school you went to parties and had fun or how you did dumb stupid things. Like in high school, when I get older and my mom let's me go out, I want to be able to go out to parties or just go out of town for the weekend with friends and have fun. Once I graduate I want to be able to get in the University I want to get into and travel to different place's around the world. And one day be able to tell my family all the crazy adventures I went on when I was younger. I feel as if this statement is trying to say 'You only live one, so live it to the fullest'.
-Adrianna Diven.

Specifically i think its talking about how lively you are in the years, how much you did and what you did and I completely agree with that statement. In my life try to live life great but due to where I live, there is not many things that pique my interest, but i have gone indoor skydiving, i very much enjoy long motorcycle rides especially when we turn and get close to the ground, I also enjoyed going spelunking in Japan, it was a one of a kind experience where i got to see hot springs in a cave. for my sixteenth birthday i want to go skydiving. The is not much i would like to accomplish, I just don't want to spend my life tied down to one spot working a boring job, if I can travel that makes it even better, I love going to other countries and experiencing the culture.

By Jose A. But as I got older when I was about 11 he started to grow a lot more distant with us and tries to but our love with money now. My dad has always struggled with being an addict and it got worse more recently, and he doesn't live with us he lives up in Raleigh. I would go from seeing him every other week when I was younger to know only seeing him about 4 times a year. I cant really remember any times of success I had shared with him but we did both share a love for soccer when I was younger which is why I love it so much now. He causes a lot of embarrassment when out in public because he is typically high and is doing something stupid or yelling at a waiter for the smallest mistake an gets annoying. But that's my dad and I wish the old him was still around but that's gone and in the past so whatever.

I want to accomplish this because it brings me great pleasure knowing that I've helped people with my work.

I'm not a very superstitious person, I like to believe that my world is determined by my actions and that nothing else can control what I do and how I react. That being said, when it comes to sports... I will take any luck that I can get. I have slowly amassed pre-game traditions and methods that give me that slight edge over the competition. I feel like being a goalkeeper and a kicker somewhat caused this because of the pressure and instinct involved. Some of my superstitions are, kissing the post on close shots, rolling my shorts up, spitting in my gloves, and not looking up. Kissing the post and rolling up my shorts both stemmed from the fact the I did them once and a positive result regularly was returned. Spitting in my gloves works kind of like a, getting into sports mode/mindset. Lastly, not looking up when I kick field goals. I found that looking up at the uprights before, during, or after the kick will guarantee a miss. So I don't, I just trust my instinct.

I personally don't think that birth order determines your future. Your future is chosen by the actions you make and what you do, which can be influenced by birth order and your role in the family. I'm the youngest in my family and I can say that I'm not as responsible as my older brother. When we were younger, he would take care of me whenever our mom wasn't around. He would sometimes have to clean up after me when I was really little. He does a lot more than me, mostly due to being the oldest (and the strongest) sibling. I believe things like that and your experiences can affect your future, but your birth order doesn't determine it, but can still influence it, depending on the person and their family.

I do follow some superstitions but they don't really have a significant impact on my life. For example, one of them is "Don't stick your chopsticks straight up in rice or it's a sign of bad luck and death." I have always been told this ever since I was a kid and so I never stuck my chopsticks in rice or really anything. Another superstition is after you get a new bag, put a penny inside it before you use it. I'm not sure why this is a thing, it has to deal with bad luck as well. Now that I'm thinking about it, I follow quite a few superstitions. I didn't realize they were superstitions until I looked them up. To name a few more: "Don't walk under a ladder.", "Don't place two mirrors in front of each other.", "Avoid pressing the number 4 in an elevator.", "Don't open an umbrella indoors.", "Always pray and say thanks before a meal.", "When receiving something, always take/grab it with both hands.", "Don't put your purse/bag on the floor.", "Knock on wood.", etc. Most of these says that if they happen, you'll have bad luck, you'll be trapped in He--, or you'll become broke. I'm not sure where they started from, I've just always been told to do these things so I've just grown to do them or to not do them.

-Leila Hill

Birth Order: The First Born

In my family, I am the first born son to my mom and dad. I was born in 2006 on the 24th of November, and I actually messed up Thanksgiving for my relatives. Anyway, I feel that being the first born has many effects on said individual. I don't think that birth order has an effect on an individual's success. However, I feel like being the first born, my parents put a lot of pressure on me. They want me to get good grades, get into a good college, and get a good paying job so I don't die from hyperglycemia or something. Which are all normal things that most parents want for their kids, but for me all it really does is put pressure on me. I am 7 years older than my youngest of 2 brothers, and the fact that they don't need to worry about college or jobs kind of stresses me out. I'm all alone in this battle, no one else in my family is in my situation. But it's not just academic expectations that are stressing me out, it's my responsibilities as well. I have chores like most other kids, and not many for that matter. But both my parents often work late, so I am left at home with two brothers (which they can take care of themselves just fine), and 2 dogs, one of which is a hyperactive puppy, and both like to get into everything they're not supposed to. Which makes it hard for me to focus on things like homework and projects. Now don't get me wrong, I like being the oldest with all my privileges and independence, but it does create some unwanted pressure and stress when it comes to responsibilities.

I do follow a few superstitions, but I have one main one that I follow. This is opening an umbrella inside is bad luck. I know this doesn't seem like a big one but for me it is. If my family opens an umbrella inside or if I know that they are about to I get away and close my eyes. I believe this superstition because as a kid I would be playing and open an umbrella inside. Then bad things would happen so ever since then I never opened another umbrella inside.

I think the order you was born doesn't actually matter. like I believe it do but then I believe it doesn't. Here's why, cause if your like 10 years apart or like my mom and my uncle. Which my uncle is like 5 now and my mom is 39.(of course were not allowed to talk to him and my grandpa like that). Then at that point it does matter, cause your going up during different times and it will effect you guys future and relationship. If your like two years apart then it doesn't really affect to be honest. Depends on how your parents choose to parent. If your in a family that believes the oldest should be the most responsible and the middle kid is never noticed, but the last one should be spoiled to death(my mom side) then the outcome of the oldest and middle and youngest will be very different. If you have a pretty fair family then the outcomes shouldn't be that far off. Then again everyone is there own person and you can change that.

by Janiah Boyd

I believe that the amount of years between the start and end does not matter nearly as much as the things you do in that time. Personally, in my lifetime I'd like to buy a sportbike and cruise around America for a couple years. I'd also like to volunteer globally and see the world while helping it grow. Lastly, I'd like to buy some land in Maine or Colorado and just live out my time there. My ultimate goal is to get through college with no student debt, make a difference in some peoples lives, and then find something that I enjoy doing.

I personally agree with the statement "It's Not the Years in Life but the Life in Years". I agree with it because I believe that how long you live doesn't determine how good your life is, it's what you do with those years. If you didn't enjoy your life, but had a very long life, was it even really a good life? Personally, in my life there are many things I hope to do, no matter how long or short it is. I want to continue learning and go to college. I want to make a life for myself where I enjoy what I do because no one will be here, on Earth, forever. While I am here I want to enjoy as much as I can. I know that not everything will be perfect, that there will be days where I'm upset or stressed, but as long as I can look back and say that enjoyed my life, no matter how long or short it will be, that means I lived a good life.

You can possibly live for 100 years, but your life be boring and meaningless. Although I want to live long, what I want more is to spend my life with meaning, doing the things I love most, trying new things, go on adventures, taking risk. Just being able to live the life I want and take on some new risk in life, make it interesting and filling my life with purpose with the ones I cherish, that's what I call living. Unless some people want to live a safe. peaceful, clam life. Just Live your fullest with no regret. - Joyous

In my opinion this statement is correct. I feel like no matter how many years you live the way you live you life is very important. For example you may live a long life but haven't lived it to the fullest is it really worth it to live. Like the one statement everyone says "live you life to the fullest" because if you just sit there staying safe and not taking risk life isn't exciting and you will have more regrets in life. But even if you have a short lifespan but took risk and enjoyed every little moment with family and friends there is less regret. For me I try to enjoy everyday and just do what I want to do because one day I'm going to be laying down looking at my ceiling and wondering why I didn't just do it. I want to accomplish many things in the future for example I want to travel to different country's which is very cliché But I would like to explore and admire different cultures. Hopefully one day I will experience everything I've always wanted in the future.

I do not think that birth order has an effect on a persons future. I believe people lifestyle and lifestyle choices effect a person future. I also do believe that birth order affects the role you have in your family. In my family I am the middle child. YES! I am that child that bring my mother the most head- aches I view my role in the family as someone who brings excitement, adventure, laughs, even though I am the child that's get into the most trouble. TBH, my family would be boring if i did not live up in that house. I am the dare devil in the family so anytime somebody in my family need somebody to try something, go on a roller coaster, do something dumb, or anything my family call on KayKay. The role that I play in my family may have shaped my future by causing me to be a little but more tough skinned and over protective when it come to family. I'm the person in the family who can mess with everybody, tease them, hit them or whatever, but as soon as somebody outside of the family do it, I'm mad. this is how i see birth order, if you are the first child you are most likely independent, you stay to your self, you make good grades, and you barely get in trouble. if you are the middle child, you are most likely the bad one, the one with anger issues, the one that gets in trouble the most and the one that probably enjoy doing the most dangerous stuff. if you are the youngest child or only, you are the baby out of the bunch, you can get away with a lot of stuff, you spoiled, you get your way most of the time, and you don't do much, you are like angels in your parents eyes but the complete opposite in your siblings eyes.

That's not how it works, you have to live life to the fullest. Be your own person, do your own thing, just live the way you want. Not how someone else think you should. Don't be afraid to be an outcast, not everyone is going to fit in and that's great cause you don't need to fit in, a nd worry about what everyone else is doing. I don’t always agree with my mom and the decisions she makes, but I've never been through the things she has and had to make those decisions. My grandfather would repeat the phrase every time I saw him. Sometimes I have this strange feeling that I'm doing to die young. I'd continuously disobey my parents, for years and years. I practically did whatever. Decided on what days I would attend school and even the time I wanted to go back home. It wasn't long before I was forced to go live with my biological dad. I feel as if anyone can have a great life, no matter how short. For example, Tupac was killed when he was just 25 years old. Look how much he impacted the black community and the music industry of course. His most popular songs addressed real world issues. Such as poverty, gang violence, racial discrimination, and how messed up our criminal justice system is. Unfortunately he was still very young when he died. He had more to share with the world.
