         <description><![CDATA[<p>Islam was introduced to the region in the 11th century by the Seljuk Turks, who migrated from Central Asia.</p><p><strong>Ottoman Empire:</strong> The religion became dominant during the rise of the Ottoman Empire in the 14th century. The Ottomans established a powerful Islamic state that lasted until the early 20th century, spreading Islam to Southeast Europe, Western Asia, and North Africa.</p><p><strong>Modern Turkey:</strong> After the fall of the Ottoman Empire, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk established the Republic of Turkey in 1923, implementing secular reforms. Despite these changes, Islam remains a central part of Turkish identity.</p>]]></description>
