Personally, the aspect that stood out for me is standard 12.3. Working with people from a migrant and refugee status as a first-year nurse can make me quite nervous because I may not know their beliefs and values and what can culturally affect them when providing care. However, I believe that communication is the key to making them feel valued and safe. It's important to talk to them if consent from the patient involvement of family to know what their beliefs are and having read their documents if required to be aware. Clinically speaking terminology in the health field can be daunting for people who don't understand it, and this can be a challenge for both the patient and the nurse. Although I feel that my communication abilities are quite average, I understand that it is crucial to make sure that the patient understands their own care to enhance their health and well-being in a respectful manner. As I move forward through my university studies, I aim to learn more communication skills through a variety of multicultural aspects and become more competent and confident when providing culturally responsive care.

reference
Culturally Responsive Clinical Practice: Working with People from Migrant and Refugee Backgrounds.

Education
Living in a refugee camp, people have limited educational opportunities, with the highest level of education being primary school. They face various challenges, such as learning a new language, adapting to a new culture and social system, building friendships, and dealing with their own mental health issues, including grief and loss from their experiences as refugees in their home country. Refugees and immigrants often experience discrimination and social exclusion based on their ethnicity, race, religion, income, and language, and this can have a significant impact on their identity and sense of belonging in an unfamiliar environment.

References
Education and students from refugee and migrant backgrounds.
