         <description><![CDATA[<div><br></div><div>Fifth Grade: introduction to basic computational thinking and coding using Code.org tutorials and through use of Edison robots. This will likely include programming using bar codes and block-based programming. <br><br></div><div>Sixth Grade: extension of Edison programming to include their Scratch- and Python-based programming languages. I have a 3-D printer, so I hope to be able to introduce the use computer aided design software (likely TinkerCAD).<br><br></div><div>Note – other educational technology is also likely to be incorporated, as the course is still in development. I’m open to suggestions and willing to plan lessons that fill in any age-appropriate gaps that are uncovered through this alignment process.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>All of the following is supposed to be taught at the grade level by the classroom teachers:<br>K works on basic skills such as using a mouse and locating letters in the student's name on the keyboard<br>Grade 1 reinforces use of the keyboard to type name and mousing skills.  Students also use several programs to enhance skills, such as, Raz Kids.<br>Grade 2 should be introduced to Typing Master at this grade.  Students also prepare a slide show using research in the library.  I teach Britannica, Image Quest and Keynote in tandem with the classroom teachers.  Teachers complete work in the classroom or labs.<br>Grade 3 Students learn word for writing.  I do not know what specific skills are worked on but I will survey them.  <br>Grade 4 Most are using chromebooks for all word processing and research.  Teachers introduce email, some address safety, some do not.  Some use email among students, some do not allow students to email eachother.  Again, not sure of the specific skills addressed but will survey.<br>Hope this helps.<br>bev<br>I'm sure I've forgotten something; I'll add as I learn more.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>
