It discusses the opinion of why President Trump wants the American people to hate the media. They use an ad hominem to discredit President Trump and reveal his true intentions. His goal of targeting the media as the enemy is also pointed out. I would say this is a successfully persuasive form of news media.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/02/opinions/trump-north-korea-priority-opinion/index.html
This article is also from CNN News. Its a type of news media that is persuading Trump to make North Korea a priority. They provide arguments to support the reasoning behind why he should. The recent build up of North Korea's nuclear and ballistic missile program is communicated as a threat to global and national peace. This use of the technique of fear makes certain parts of the article persuasive.

The Television:
This form of mass media (specifically broadcast media) is very effective in our world today. Although it is somewhat expensive, the means of communication through it is so easy and efficient. For people to retain information or watch news, they simply have to turn it on and choose what they want to listen too. Numerous amounts of people can use it across the world and they can all do it at once. It changed politics by allowing our whole nation to watch the presidential debates and it continues to serve as a top mass media tool for other topics as well.

The Internet:
The internet is one of the top forms of mass media I would say. It is used for basically everything at anytime, anywhere. In our country today it is easily accessible from almost anywhere. It can be used on computers, tvs, and even cellphones now. Using the internet for mass media is one of the most beneficial, and effective ways.

The first picture below is from an Instagram account. It's one example of how social media can be used to advertise and/or persuade. This girl is using her social media account to persuade her followers to sign up with It Works! and jump on board the business. She uses positivity and the perks of working with the company to persuade her followers.

Audio Clips

https://youtu.be/7LtjzQaFZ3k
The first audio clip is a commercial for GEICO. They use humor to persuade the audience to buy GEICO insurance. Their claim is that people that save thousands of dollars by switching to GEICO our happier than a camel on hump day. The humor works for this commercial because Hump day is a relatively new trend that started with the past couple of years so people relate to it and find it funny. I would say it is a somewhat effective commercial.
https://youtu.be/dK2qBbDn5W0
This second audio clip is a vintage 1984 McDonald's commercial jingle. In the song they sing about what's in a Big Mac. Although the video and the jingle itself is very cheesy and annoying, the tune and lyrics get stuck in your head. This is actually a good thing for their company because they have successfully gotten their jingle stuck in your head so you can't stop thinking about it. This makes the commercial a successful advertisement.

This is an advertisement for a type of Colgate toothpaste. The advertisement is very successful because the design of it captivates you all while communicating the benefits of using it. The colors are very bright and contrasting which make it stand out. The words also catch your attention while also explaining what the toothpaste does when you use it. On the sides they give concise descriptions of why you should use the product to help persuade. It also includes an image of the product itself so you know what it looks like.

Perfume Ad

This is an advertisement for a perfume by DKNY which I selected because I believe it does a great job in persuading people to buy the product. Its message, and visual display make it a successful ad. The name of the perfume, what they are trying to sell, is bold and the main focus with their target (women) underneath it. They kept the words on this ad limited yet very clear and concise which was a smart decision because it gets to the point without having to read too much. The picture on this ad and the coloring of it also makes it successful because the green lettering and apple tells the audience the perfume is a fruity fragrance without saying it.

This is another Instagram account that uses social media as a way of marketing. The company CARBON COCO made an account to sell and promote their product. As you can see from the picture, they sell teeth whitening products. They use testimonies from people that have used their product, and the positive benefits to persuade people. By having a social media account for their company, they can easily have people check out their products and the results of them before they buy it.
