The character wakes up, and begins to look around and explore the ruins of his city, during that time he finds a sort of malformed creature, calling itself the "Oracle" which he fights, and in that first fight, learns the basics of fighting. He will continue fighting the oracle, until he strikes him down for the final time. This is essentially the end of the game for the player, if they defeat Mephistroth, they absorb his soul, and go on a search to find what might remain of a human civilization.
