I wasn't someone who listened to advice when I was a freshman; looking back now, I only wish I did.

Don't worry about trying to fit in or about being judged. People are going to judge you no matter where you are, who you're with, and what you do. Its human nature. The best thing anyone can do is to take a breath, and do what you like. Don't let other people dictate your actions.

I was a kid who procrastinated almost my entire high school life, and to be honest, I'm still paying the price and will be for a few more years. Pay attention, get off your phones, and just listen, do your work.

High school will go much easier if you don't fill your schedule with all the activities; you will only get stressed, overwhelmed, and tired. Leave some room for homework, leave some room for you. And I don't mean 1 am on a Tuesday night, I mean having time to go home, and relax for 15–30 minutes. Give yourself breathing room, or you are going to fall into the same procrastination loop I did.

NEVER say “I'll do it later”, just do it when you think about it.

work to build healthy habits: go to bed at a reasonable time, consistently. figure out what study methods work best for you. stay on top of your homework, a little progress each day makes a big difference. don't waste your life scrolling on your phone. start thinking ahead (first job, college, potential careers) but you don't need to make concrete plans.

A piece of advice I would give to incoming freshman would be to stay on top of your work and grades, especially the first two years because it can be very hard to get your GPA up the last two years if you didn't try your hardest at first. Another thing I would say is don't stress, and worry to much about getting things done, fully understanding information, and deeply learning has helped me in harder classes so much more than breezing through! A piece of advice I would give to a freshman is to make the effort to try in all your classes, especially in the first two years. It is extremely common to slack off in your first two years of high school because you think it won't hurt you in the long run. Long story short, it will, especially if you have your eyes set on a certain school ( if you plan to go to college after high school). Although making sure you are keeping up in school is important, it is also important to note that grades don't define you or your worth. Try your best, whatever happens happens. Good luck!

Advice I would give to freshman would be not to stress out so much. Sure high school takes some adjusting to get used to at first but it'll all fall into place. Find a pattern for school that works well for you. Procrastinating your homework until the night before its due is NOT a pattern. Doing that will actually stress you out a whole lot more than if you were to complete some of it daily until it's finished. Lastly don't try to force yourself to be someone you aren't. I promise you being you, is so much better than trying to fit in with the rest of the crowd. Be your own unique self and don't let others change that about you, being you is all you can control!

The most important thing to do is to enjoy your time in high school; it goes by fast, and before you know it, you're off to college, work, etc. Believe your parents when they say the older you get, the faster time goes. I didn't believe them when I was young, but now I'm here, wondering where the last 4 years went. Stay on top of your work; the more you leave it for later, the more it's gonna come back at you later. Lastly, for the love of god, don't smoke. I did for like 3 of my high school years on top of 7th and 8th grade and it did nothing but screw me over.

An advice I would give to freshmen is to learn how to study early and also how to manage your time. It makes everything so much easier. Another thing I would like to point out as a student who took AP classes is that they often don't tell your his but AP classes is actually made to be much harder than a regular college class. If you're up for it go for it but it's good to be aware because they are weighted differently and can make a huge difference on your GPA.

Advice to freshmen: Make sure to make time for your friends. As life moves on, you get busier, and before you know it, you won't be spending time with people as much. You'll make new friends and grow differently. Participate in the school activities. You don't have to go to them all, but at least some. Even if they're not your typical thing, you'll look back and wonder where all the memories are. Just keep your grades up, Cs are okay. Finally, remember to have fun and make memories, but be responsible and remember who you are.
