She was a student working to earn her undergraduate degree and also worked part time at the Gentry Life Science building laboratory. Anna attended lectures, practiced soccer, went on dates/met with friends in coffee shops, studied at the library, and worked part time in the lab. She attended lectures at different times, but she went to Dr. Elsie Opal’s class and prepped labs in the morning. Within Anna's last hours, she had a collision with Sam Greene during a soccer event, had coffee at the cafe, studied with Dominique, took pills for a severe migraine, was at the lab, and received a text from Eric in reference to an argument between the two at a previous lunch date.

Claims he last saw Anna at lunch at noon the day before she died. 

Dominique Hall: nineteen years old, classmate, competitive with Anna, jealous of Anna’s scholarship award. Dominique claims she last saw Anna at a study group meeting at 5:30 p.m. the day before she was found dead.

Taylor Diaz: nineteen years old, Anna’s friend, found Anna’s body and notified law enforcement. Garcia. He claims he last saw her when they were working together in the lab at 1:00 p.m. the day before she was found dead. 

Dr. Elsie Opal: fifty years old, Anna’s professor and advisor, friendly working relationship, refused to write recommendation letter. Opal claims she last saw Anna during her office hours at 10:00 a.m. the day before Anna was found dead.

Sam Greene: twenty years old, soccer teammate, got into fight with Anna at soccer tournament. Sam also claims Anna collided with her during their 3:00
p.m. soccer practice the day before she was found dead.

During the polygraph test, Eric Piedmont had suspicious results for questions #2 (were you and Anna getting along?), #3 (Was the last time you saw Anna at lunch at 12:00 p.m. the day before she was found dead?) and #4 (Did you kill Anna?). Dominique Hall and Dr. Elsie Opal also produced suspicious data for #4 (Did you kill Anna?). While this doesn’t mean they were necessarily involved in Anna’s death (lie detector tests are not always accurate), these persons of interest produced suspicious data. To determine this, we compared the control data to the experimental results to determine if someone was lying. 

Our top person of interest in Eric because he and Anna were fighting before she died and his fingerprint was on the note found at the scene. Eric, Dominique and Elsie also provided some suspicious data during the polygraph. We know that polygraph tests aren’t very accurate, but there is some evidence to support the results. So, we should also keep a close eye on Dominique and Elsie as persons of interest as well.

We cannot give a definite cause of death, yet. We think it is likely Anna overdosed on pain medications (from her soccer injury and headache). She could have passed out in the lab as she overdosed, hit her head on the table (leaving blood) and breaking the glass. On social media, she posted twice about her injury and headache, and showed that she was taking medication. The combination of the two incidents could have led her to take too many medications accidentally, causing her to die in the lab from an overdose.

This will help either confirm or deny our hypothesis on how Anna died. We will also look for the analysis of external injuries.
