To fall would mean that the previous knowledge you come in with is being advanced or changed in some way, so the past way of thinking you had falls from what you now know
3. In order to ripen our knowledge, we have to be willing to shed the past knowledge we hold onto in favor of a more advanced and somewhat more perfected way of thinking

1. The rotten fruit in our classroom would be the distractions and laziness that would prevent someone from doing their work, in my opinion. It’s something that would hold you back from succeeding

2. To fall first would mean to fall behind and not reach your full potential as a reader or writer.

3. This metaphor relates to this class because it expresses the difference in students motivation and determination, it picks out the more distracted ones causing them to fall behind.

1.) I would say that the “rotten fruit” would be the people that don’t push themselves to succeed and just kinda hang back and don’t give themselves any room for growth

2.) I would say to “fall first” would mean the people to fall behind first. When you don’t put in the effort in life to be able to stay in step with everyone else you’re very likely to fall behind. So many people think that they can just go through life without trying and everything will turn out ok in the long run but that isn’t the case.

3.) I would say that this applies to me because I know that if I don’t apply myself and put effort into my work and into learning the content I will fall behind and once you fall it’s very hard to get back up again.

To "fall first" as a student, a fruit, could mean that they had failed the course before it even began through lack of effort, before they had a chance to ripen.
3. This could translate to my AP English experience as I have been in classrooms with students who are unwilling to learn or complete their work, and they failed because of it.

The Rotten fruit in this metaphor would be used to represent those who are unwilling to learn and distract others from their learning as well. The quote also states that these fruit will fall first. What this means in the context of our metaphor is that our "rotten fruit" will be the first to fail, or not succeed. This metaphor will apply to my class experience since it warns me of failure if I don't work hard.
