About 1.1 million Jews, homosexuals, Slavs, Gypsies, and Polish political prisoners were killed in the Auschwitz camps built in Poland. Only 196 prisoners made an escape from Auschwitz and Kazimierz Piechowski was able to survive the war that happened.

Helga would ask her parents what was happening and she would get angered if they tried hiding something from her. Weiss was also impacted because the noises she heard still haunt her, and even her own dad was killed their.
