This is based on Jocasta by Ruth F. Eisenberg, the first drawing is suppose to represent how happy Jocasta was with oedipus, the colours are bright in the sky, “oepidus has become my Apollo warming my day and night” you can see that the kids are happy and so is Oedipus. This is because in Jocasta's marriage to King Liaus, he treated her poorly, " he took me instead and threw me on my back to have his way." She wasn't as important as he was and he took advantage of her. In addition, the quote, "gods decree a wife obey her spouse," is a very old fashion look on women that shows the contrast with the feminist tone. Later in the short story the whole tone changes from having a horrible husband to having Oepidus who treats her with respect, "More than a loving wife, she was also counsellor," this shows the change of roles she has.

The second drawing is of when she realises what she had done. Her entire perspective changes of
Oedipus, instead of her strong young man, he is the baby she once gave up. The sky is grey in the
background to show how her world went dark. “Oh God. He is my son. I’ve loved my son.....My God we
have four children.” And using that quote I erased the children a little bit and drew frowning faces to create the change in her perception, “five babies, five abominations.” In a Jocasta view knowing more isn’t better because she was once in love, she was happy compared to her last husband. And she did act on her
views, she killed her self, “those who cannot shape their lives are better dead.”
