In the song, the speaker appears to be a fallen angel that has been banished from heaven. Billie Eilish tells the story. Billie's brother, Finneas, wrote this song in response to the California wildfires. The fallen angel falls from the sky and lands in a puddle of oil, and there is fire everywhere.
https://storyofsong.com/story/all-the-good-girls-go-to-hell/
Her audience are the people who lack empathy and compassion for their world. Her audience is also the people who are very religious and are ignorant about what's going on in the world.
The purpose of the lyrics is to talk about how humans are to blame for climate change, and God cannot forgive us anymore.
The purpose of the video is to make us realize what's going on the world. There are fires and pollution everywhere in the music video and it's scary, but that is literally what is going on right now.
The subject of the song is Global Climate Change. The tone of the song is dark. The instrumental sounds like what they would play in the background of someone who is very powerful and greedy.

Billie Eilish uses pathos, ethos, and logos in both her lyrics and her music video to 'All the Good Girls Go to Hell'. She uses the lyrics and videos to raise awareness about climate change, and to warn those who lack empathy towards their world. There's a lot of symbolism in her music video and her lyrics.

Lyric Analysis: Logos

Logos: In the first line of the song, it states "My lucifer is lonely". A lot of people can have different interpretations of this. The way that I interpret these lyrics is that she's talking about how originally, in the bible, God banned lucifer from heaven. He sent him to earth, and he's lonely. In the lyrics "Peter's on vacation, an open invitation", she refers to Saint Peter, whom guards the gates to heaven. He's not there guarding the gates, and a lot of people are entering heaven. This is a metaphor to how people think it is easy to enter heaven, but it's more complicated than that. Then, there's the lyrics "Pearly gates look more like a picket fence. Once you get inside em', got friends but can't invite them". Pearly gates refer to the gates of heaven. She uses the simile to compare them, because houses that have picket fences are made to provide security and stop certain people from entering.

Lyric Analysis: Ethos

Ethos: In the lyrcis, "All the good girls go to hell, 'cause even God herself has enemies" she calls God by the pronoun "she". She uses the female pronouns to reference how most people call god a male, but he cannot be either one, because he is not human. In the lyrics, "Once the water starts to rise, and heavens out of sight, she’ll want the devil on her team", she uses ethos to demonstrate how God is powerless compares to the devil. The lyrics "Look at you needing me, you know I'm not your friend without some greenery" add to the concept that God is inferior to Lucifer. God needs the devil, and she pays him. Lucifer tells God he won't do anything if he doesn't get nothing in return.

In her lyrics and the music video, she makes those who are careless feel guilty and fearful.
The lyrics "Hills burn in California, my time to ignore 'ya" has two metaphors in my opinion. The first metaphor is how there are millions of people angry at our leaders. They protest and beg them to do something about the damage we've done, but they don't listen.
The second metaphor refers to how God has given up on us, and is ignoring our prayers about the wildfires that we've caused. That's why the wildfires haven't stopped yet. The lyrics "Poisoning themselves now, begging for our help, wow" adds to the idea that God doesn't want to help us because she thinks we're hypocrites. We poison ourselves with air pollution, wildfires, and oil spills, and then we ask god for help, instead of doing something about it.

In a scene of the music video, Billie grows wings and falls from the sky. This refers to a "fallen angel". As she proceeds to sing the lyrics, it is apparent that a fallen angel is the speaker.
Throughout the video, the fires keep going and never stop. This symbolizes how the wildfires in California have not stopped and will continue to burn.
Billie walks forward throughout the video drenched in oil. This symbolizes the wildlife that die from oil pollution.

On one of the last scenes of the video, there appears to be female dancers dancing in the fires. To me I think this symbolizes how humans know about the issues of the world, but are careless about it. They don’t do anything to try and change it while the world is dying, but they’re just "dancing". She only used woman dancers to set the tone of feminine energy in her video.
When Billie lands on the puddle of oil, she gets up and continues walking like normal. She ignores the fact that there are fires everywhere. This symbolizes how lucifer isn’t surprised that we ruined everything and how greedy we turned out because we descended from Adam and Eve.

In the music video, the fire only starts as soon as the fallen angel lands on earth. This means how humans are responsible for the fires.
When Billie lands on the puddle of oil, it refers to the oil spills we've caused.
In the last scene of the video, Billie looks back and starts walking back where she came from. I think this means how the damage we’ve done is almost irreversible. It still can be reversible; however, nobody cares enough. This can cause us to not have a future.

Billie Eilish uses several appeals and symbolism in the lyrics and the music video to get a message across to those who lack empathy toward their world. The message is that they won't go to heaven if they don't try to fix what has been done. Even if you don't believe in heaven, she's trying to point out that we won't have a future. Overall, Billie is effective in the lyrics and video in convincing her audience to do something to change the damage that has been done to the world.
