Family and community engagement in learning

Family and community engagement in learning is critical to schools being able to create an education and constructive environment for students. Community’s getting involved in events and school fundraising builds connections and allows the school to function to the fullest extent. Community leaders are very important to students, educators, and schools as a unit. They provide things throughout the year that schools could not function without. Many schools get donations at the beginning of school that allows lower income students to have the supplies needed to succeed throughout the year. This support for students does not go unnoticed and students and families depend heavily upon this support, especially in lower income areas.

I have seen the math coach hold an event inviting parents and guardians to come in and practice their student(s) grade level math. They also look at the standards to show what they are learning for the entire year. I really like the idea of having family engagement nights where you may have some snacks or pizza and just have a casual conversation.
