Textbook Updates

Faculty are needing to use resources that are within 5-7 years old. Not all OER is updated over the years and our college doesn't always have OER grants to fund the updates needed to previously authored OERs. Our question is how much of the updates are faculty teaching responsibility and what goes beyond this and should be compensated?

I think we need more community-wide discussion about automatic billing, particularly campuswide flat-fee or per-credit-hour fee models like "Equitable Access". I know about inclusiveaccess.org but how do I learn from lived experiences of any institutions that have successfully avoided auto-billing traps?
