I have watched "The ring", "Unfriended" and many other horror/action types of film so my original idea is to mix a little bit of both to create an unique experience to the viewer, give them a new perspective.
I won't have the budget of one of those film's but I will try to do something similar and unique that will be as good as one of those.

Tests shots

Before shooting, I will be running a few tests shots to test the camera settings or even changing the settings to get that perfect low key light because I can always get a good light on the post production, with some of the presets that I already have planned to add on the short clip, I am looking for a low key light with good illumination and effects.

Discussion of changes to idea

Right now I feel like this main idea is the way to go, I have everything planned and ready to go.
Already have some post production ideas on how this movie will look like, actors ready to go, and I have a good feeling that this movie will meet my criteria.
Better than this is only if I could use high quality props or equipment, but overall I thing I am good.

Solutions for possible problems

Actors not showing up - For this problem I will just simple ask my other classmates to help me out shooting my project.
The location might have people relaxing or even working there, I can always switch up for a different location within the college since the college is big enough to do that.
Equipment - Not having equipment to shoot or someone else took it, I can always use my phone with a stabiliser to help me improve the production quality.
Footage - Most of the footage was recorded with bad audio or even bad recorded, for this I will check the settings and test the sound before actually shooting the movie.

Since the whole vibe is around and industrial, school type and will include students why not making it on lambeth college?
I chose the parking/playground zone for the shooting not also because its a nearby location but also provides a good ambience for the shooting and its accessible for everyone.

CONTEXT

Horror/Action genres
It is normally used suspense and drama sound to create a scene of fear and horror.
The sounds are normally played loud with drums playing on the background to give that heartbeat sound which allows people to interact and feel the vibe of the movie.
So my main thing that I aiming to for this movie is to create an original and creative idea that I have which will allow people to connect and enjoy, for this short movie I will be using a lot of blurry scenes to create that atmosphere of unknown area and mysterious drama.

The Ring

I used the Idea of having a phone and receiving text messages to implement on my trailer as a way of having a mysterious text messages received from an anonymous person.

There is some of the research that I found on the internet about "The Ring" movie.

Structure
Arrival is a beautiful, sad, slow, contemplative movie that feels more like an art film than a big budget blockbuster. There are dozens of lingering, moody shots of the misty green hills of Montana (actually Quebec in real life) and lengthy, silent close-ups of Amy Adams Feeling Things.
The whole movie has differenct act going from 1 to 3 finishing with a conclusion where they summarize the whole ending.
This also another film where most of the horror genre is present.

My Initial Idea

My initial idea is to create a short trailer inspired on a horror/action genre where I can have my creativity flow and still fell comfortable editing with the experience that I already have.
Horror types of movies are really stereotyped which normally have a "bad character" in a pursuit against "people, normally a group of teenagers".

So what I am be doing is to create different scenes where people will be walking normally when suddenly someone gets a random call from a anonymous person, answers and then the phone turns off (...)
Phones comes back on , with face time active.

Reflection on script changes

I am hoping to shoot everything as planned but I am also aiming for a improvisation which will give a realism to the film and people will relate to and will turn the movie into something particular.
For instances having people switch up a bit their lines and have more natural sounds instead of all being artificial and post production made.

Footage review

Before leaving the shooting scene we will all review and analyse the footage for imperfections due to the fact that last time we had to record everything because one of the shot had the equipment behind and ruined the footage, and maybe organised better on how every shot will be shot and if needed we can always change up on set.

Booking/Actors

Booking sheet done and already talk with the actors that will be helping me on this project and I also will be helping them on their projects.
All the equipment is booked and ready to go, just need to check for spear batteries and check the settings, maybe set up.

Night (green screen) can be done for instances when recording using day light and wanted to shoot on night time but has other plans and can't be present.
I have been working with adobe for over a year and thoughout this time I have developed a good understand how things work and found shortcuts to achieve what I want.

EFFECTS

Type Effect - One of the effect that I had planned on doing but throughout the editing I decided to remove it because I had to change it every time I had to move things around so I removed.

Program Used: Premiere Pro 2018
I have learnt how to use this program since my first time when I join "Lambeth College" and I started my course so I know already how to do most of the stuff required to make a trailer or even get sound effects and other types of material.

SOUND - The sound is very important to tell a story, without sound everything will just not make any sense.
I like music and the whole thing behind music so making background music or even adding sound effects for me is a simple thing due to the fact of me already worked on music before.
Overall I know how to add key frames or even working with Db to have the perfect level at the perfect time.

Evaluation

Context

To get the final project, I have to get the trailer credits done and maybe review what has to be written or even if needs to be added any extra context.

At the beginning I thought to myself that I wanted something funny but I end up by choosing something related with horror/action due to that fact that I enjoy more doing stuff like that and I don’t really have to rely on jokes or even on people to understand the jokes.

So right now I am happy with the final product, maybe I would change a few things but overall I think it’s pretty much what I had in mind for this project.

Process and timescale, gone through all the processes and finally got it done within the time given for this, pre-production, production and final post-production.

Research will be based online using something similar to what I have on mind for this project, so I based on movies such as “Unfriended” and “The Ring” to inspire me creating my own horror trailer.

I used and reconstructed some of the ideas that I saw on the movie, such as “Unfriended” the whole phone vibe and the whole thing about having a social movie and having mysterious people showing up on screen.

Reflected on both movies to create my original trailer but having a small taste of both movies which I took inspiration from.

In someway due to the limitations we had, budget etc.. I couldn't work on some of the effects I had planned.

Research

My initial idea I had in mind to create something around the genre horror/action so I started looking online for horror movies and then most of viewed movies popped out so I took some time to view them and when finally saw the recommended movies I found the “Unfriended” and I had watched it in the past and for me is one of the greatest online social movies so I took some ideas to create my own.

Some of the effects used on those movies are high budget so I had to go for other types of effects that gives what I wanted so yes, I changed direction but I kept the initial idea.

Practical Skills

When recording I used what I learnt on the previous levels doing media, I knew I had to shoot within the frame having the character in the middle of the frame and not move too much so we don’t get the shoot ruined.

I normally have in mind the shoots and how they are going to be edit afterwards so I go with that mind set to the set and shoot the shoots that I have planned.

I also try to improve a little bit and get different shots just in case I need for backup or even to add up and off course I have all the shoots planned before going on set.

Post-Production, I normally start by arranging all the shoots, cuts and transitions and then I move on to the sound effects and background music, and when I am happy with the sound I would balance all the sound and have it normalized so we don’t get a clip lauder than others or even high volume on the background music.

I came across challenges like having to work on effects or even having to get the set well framed so we couldn’t get to see the background people and buildings and have it focused on the main character and the story.

So best thing to adapt was to get the shoots well framed and to not have too much background showed, having background Gaussian blur also helped, a great effect for film.

Skills that I am proud was the fact that I got the right angles and I was able to get the effects synced with the video perfectly, colour correction added right throughout the whole clip.

I would say overall I think I did great, professionally at least, but I still need to work on the final credits.

Evaluation and Reflection

The only left to do is to finish the edit to the feedback given so it stays with all the changes that has to be done.

If I was to do this again I would maybe do a different thing, try out new genres and do it outside of my safe zone to see how would I react to a new challenge.

In some ways I would say that I mature, made sure this time there was no imperfection specially when shooting, having no equipment behind that could originate us to record everything again, so this time I would say that I came prepared for the shooting.

Everything that I could add to my experience I would say is me improving in some way and I am always learning new things.
