AA's use of logos:
"Nothing is wanting with you, but attention, dilligence and steady application, Nature has not been deficient." This is a good reasoning from her side as to achieve any success we have to work hard and be attentive.
" The Habits of a vigorous mind are formed in contending with difficulties."
All these statements give out a logical reasoning of how surviving and facing such difficulties would help him bring out a better person from within himself.

This would accomplish her overall purpose of persuading by convincing her son that he is capable of success and giving him a reasonable reassurance that he himself should also believe he is capable.

AA's use of logos is evident through her allusions to short anecdotes that help to promote her argument. For example, she says, "Some Author that I have met with compares a judicious traveller, to a river that increases its stream the farther it flows from its source..." Another example of her use of logos is when she says, "Would Cicero have shone so distinguished an orater, if he had not been roused, kindled and enflamed by the Tyranny of Catiline, Millo, Verres and Mark Anthony."
These both would accomplish her overall purpose of convincing her son that his trip to France will help to extend his knowledge and help him to achieve his goals by logically alluding to short anecdotes that explain how people achieved success and saying that her son could do the same.

All history will convince you of this, and that wisdom and penetration are the fruits of experience, not the Lessons of retirement and leisure."

2.

She says "Great Necessities call out great virtues." This would accomplish her overall purpose of convincing her son that struggles in life make a person stronger by summarizing her past statements in the last paragraph into one logical sentence. In the last paragraph she lists examples of how people can have vigorous minds from difficulties, so she uses logic to then apply this idea to "Great necessities call out great virtues." If there are problems that one must face, then obviously that person will grow from the things they have to overcome.

The effect of using logic would perhaps further convince John Quincy Adams and strongly appeal to his sensible nature.
