He was the first English man to circumnavigate the globe. <br>2. Was knighted by Queen Elizabeth I upon his triumphant return. <br>3. He was searching for a westward route to the Maluku Islands (the Spice Islands).  He ended up reaching the Spice Islands by going through the Magellan Strait and across the Pacific Ocean (peaceful sea) but died in the battle of Mactan(did not complete entire voyage.) 3 Facts 1. First to cross Pacific Ocean 2. Completed first circumnavigation around the world 3.The Magellan Strait and the Magellic penguin were named after him.</div>]]></description>
