The indigenous people used trees to make cut pieces of wood in order to make these bows which went through a week long aging process. They would then use either buffalo hair or yuca laves braided together to make the string. The bow was a very important part in their lives as it was their main way of obtaining food. Other than the bow and arrow they would also make spears. (Sheridan. "Native American Products." Aftermath. Accessed December 04, 2018.)

The birch bark canoe was the man type of canoe among indigenous people. They used the bark from birch trees to line the wooden frame of the canoe because it was strong and water resistant. The advantage to this design was that the canoes were light enough for one person to carry but also sturdy enough to go through the rough rapid on the river. (Alchin, Linda. "Native American Life."

The house shown below is a wigwam house that was used in woodland environments. The indigenous people would first make a Fram from wood then line the frame with wooden mats and bark from birch trees. Doing this allowed the wigwam to hold heat and also stay dry from the rain. There were many different variations of this type of house depending on location. For those that lived in the plain, they would use buffalo hide to line the frame since that is what they had an abundance of. (Alchin, Linda. "Native American Life."

Indigenous people had multiple types of cultural items that they used wood for. The totem pole is the most known out of any and was used for many different occasions. They could be used for either a special event or to honor the death of a leader or special person. Each totem pole was different from another and no two were exactly alike. Another item that was frequently used was mask that were made from wood for dancers in ceremonies and rituals. They believed that those who wore the mask would inhabit the spirit that the mask represents. (Alchin, Linda. "Native American Culture." Facts, Clothes, Food and History ***. January 16, 2018.

Trees and bushes provided indigenous people with many different medicinal uses. Shrubs such as the canada yew were used to make teas that were used for women that had things such as post childbirth complications or irregular menstrual cycles. Even today we still use this shrub because it was found that an extract from the needles was found to help with cancer and has been incorporated into chemotherapy. Another commonly used shrub and tree was the rugosa and the white cedar tree. The rugosa could help with colds and fever and the white cedar would help with wounds and injuries. (Blouin, Glen.
