All Poe stories contain something similar, the mysterious intrigue of the unknown. The protagonist in these stories never really has a fully formed idea of his purpose, and leaves the reader wondering as well.

    Edgar Allen-Poe stories all include a common collection of eerie details and ghoulish situations. An example of these commonalities is in the Masque of the Red Death:
  • The very dark red and black room that spread a very negative vibed aura to the people who were around it.
  • The mysterious figure in the mask that comes in and intimidates the guests. 
  • The host, who started with everything and left the story with nothing. 
  • The people who tried to stay away from the unknown figure but perished anyway in the end. 

Common Poe themes are

People thought he had died, but actually he had travelled to Bermuda and finds out that there is a group of JPWs (Juan Pablo Worshippers). They think that he is their king, because they thought he was a different Juan Pablo. He goes back to his community. He had thought it had been only a couple of years, but actually it had been one hundred years. All of his friends and family are dead. One afternoon the kids go out to recess and they Juan Pablo walking to his house and point at him and say "Look that's Juan Pablo from ch. 2 of of Poe's Juan Pablo Adventures book." He realizes that there is nothing left for him, except for being famous, so he goes back to Bermuda to find the JPWs. He finds out that one hundred years have passed again, but he felt like it was only ten years.   • Rising action: everything is going fine in Michael's life until he watches “This is the End” and he hears Seth Rogen’s haunting laugh. Michael hears Rogen’s laugh everywhere and it starts to drive him insane. His wife leaves him and takes the kids with him. Rogen has taken everything from him. 
  • Climax: Michael goes to Seth Rogen’s house to face his demons.
  • Resolution: Michael murders Seth Rogen

    Leonardo Dicaprio had not been sleeping well lately. It wasn’t long before the media noticed a change and when they asked him, he replied that the issue was the result of him hearing ominous voices in his room as he slept. The voices, he stated, at first whispered nothings and just caused a breeze in the air, but then after two weeks they started to speak to him. Nothing of importance, but trivial questions and statements such as “you know who it is” and “You ain’t crazy baby.”
