The use of suddenness in this song is created by Kendrick when he changes the beat 4 times throughout the duration of the whole song. He first starts the song with a slow tempo beat where he raps about his way to the top. Then at 1:21, the beat suddenly changes to a beat with way more tempo then the previous one Kendrick was rapping on. He takes advantage of the beat change by taking shots at other rappers and calling himself the greatest rapper alive. He then again changes the beat at the 2:00 minute mark and is know boasting with all of the stuff he has now that he didn’t have before. About 50 seconds go by and Kendrick changes the beat again. With this last beat change Kendrick talks about how good his life is now and how he is one of the best in the rap game.
