Immediately both are detained. But when asked who the killer is they Sam says "not me, I was just wondering around for some alone time. I came across these passages a while back" and Nate says "Its not me, I was just using them as a quick exit out of my apartment. I came across them a while back as well." The cops using your clue of what the killer looks like immediately arrest Nate Miller and takes him in. Keeping Sam Pine in custody until the case is fully closed. 

Nate Miller winds up confessing to everything after much force. While Sam Pine just sits calmly knowing he didn't do it. 

Case Closed, the Killer was Nate Miller who killed John Green due to him being the owner of a competing business. ENDING #9

Congratulation you solved the Apartment Murders! Throughout the many paths possible to choose you ended up choosing the right one every time (unless you just played again and again until you got) so congrats!

Figuring out who the killer was came down to the decision of what you first thought to do when you found the secret passage way. If you told the cops right away the clues about the killers appearance would never be found leading to the wrong person being arrested. But by investigating by yourself for a bit you were able to figure out part of what the killer looked like, leading to the right decision being made!

The cops having no clue what the killer looks like, goes to arrest Sam Pine since he looks more panicked then Nate Miller. But while arresting him, Nate pulls out his gun, shoots the cops holding him, and then shoots the other two cops and Sam Pine in order to keep his identity a secret. ENDING #8

Congratulations on getting all the way to the end of the story and being so close to solving the murder. It all came down to whether you thought you should tell the cops about the secret passage right away, or keep it to yourself for a bit. Since you told the cops no clues about the killers appearance were ever found leading to the wrong decision being made.

But it turns out your decision was not the right choice. The killer knowing the cops are getting suspicious decide to lay low for a while in the passage way. For that way if someone comes in he can kill them before they find anything or tell anyone else. 

So when the cops go back in as a group the killer is waiting by the entrance and kills all of them one at a time, before they can even get in.
