My challenge takes place in the classrooms of elementary schools and middle schools. Research shows that many girls begin to lose significant interest in STEM fields at this age, so it's vital to step in and continue cultivating this interest.
I think exposure to all sorts of technology is important. Visiting science centers, exploring labs, seeing the latest in robotic developments - and meeting women in all of these areas - is how we can encourage girls to pursue STEM careers.
What if we could help solve gender equality by inspiring young women to pursue careers in STEM fields? We could develop a program or brief curriculum that includes visits from female scientists, engineers, or mathematicians, field trips to labs and tech hubs, and opportunities for both boys and girls to get involved at an early age.

The idea is to completely restructure HR hiring practices by taking learnings from shows like the voice and masked singer. Simply removing identifiers from resumes and assigning a code before it goes to management/those hiring; conduct candidate interviews in separate rooms or virtual/phone with voice modulators where managers/those hiring can take notes and rate potentials based solely on the interview and not their race, background, gender etc.. There would need to be multiple complementary actions such as simulation training for those hiring new employees to truly dispel bias and prejudice. But at least this could be a start.

This could be done in one day during medical education, and imagine how this might impact the way they interact with Black patients and patients of colour in the future. What if the medical community was truly safe for everyone and equally invested in the health of all people?

Since it's the office environment and the biases have already existed it is good to have an external person engaging the staff to tackle the hate and differences so that everyone to them would be new and also the people addressing them will not have any prejudices or judgemental thoughts and can evaluate every individually authentically. Assignments through case studies could also solve problems which will be an eye opener for many because it's through self realisation and self discipline one can overcome the problem of hate.

3.

Problem definition:

Racism occurs as both a structural and individual phenomenon. At a structural and systemic level it occurs in the workplace, especially in the hiring stage, the gentrification of cities, and the disincentivization of students and professors of colour of applying to work/study in universities and schools. At the individual level it takes place through 'micro-aggressions' in the office, in public transportation, the classroom, or a shop, honestly almost everywhere.

Solution through innovation:

I propose that, for example, in schools or offices, the racist tradition of Zwarte Piet is actively and loudly countered. There should be the Anti-racist Piet who represents the diversity of the Netherlands and educates individuals on the history of the Racist representation.
Urban planners could discuss directly with the communities that live in a particular city to understand what their vision of their neighbourhood is. This would avoid simply building efficient housing and placing costs that may force that community to move.

One-line pitch:
What if we could solve racism in the Netherlands by opening conversations with the communities of colour that make up this country. There should be higher willingness to hire POC for white-collar jobs, in education and government positions. But there should also be a better integration in cities, de-gentrifying neighbourhoods, by partnering with those same communities that are part of them.

Marginalization of women in economic development and in social and political spaces is a worldwide phenomenon; however, it is worse in developing countries. In Nigeria, despite the adoption of the United Nations’ Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women in 1985 and similar local policies, such as the National Gender Policy of 2006, inequality still exists due to a myriad of cultural and structural challenges. This has constrained women’s participation in all spheres of life with serious implications for human resource development and, in that capacity, economic development of the country and the general state of gender equality. This article reviews the situation in Nigeria and argues that local adaptation of international norms as well as a focus on domestic reforms in laws and culture might be a reasonable approach towards women’s development.
